After two years my side steps were a mess, spend half a day cleaning up re painting re rustproofing new bolts loads of copper grease but I know in another few years they will be as bad but on the plus side when I park in ridiculously narrow parking spots I put the car in off road height I know the people who park next to me can’t damage my doors as there doors hit the steps win win for me 😂
Deffo a plus side to steps.

Yep. I do exactly the same. Its paid off a couple of times judging by the wee dents in my new side steps.
Oh btw, they were only £100 incl delivery from Turbo Revs.

Just taken my side steps off as I’m fitting rock sliders and despite not being on for more than a few months the little bolts had already rusted. A chisel and large hammer removed those that didn’t undo
Has also given me chance to look at the sills and a few surface spots of rust near the brackets resulted in the whole sill being sanded back, liberal coats of Kurust, followed by red oxide primer and tomorrow a coupe of coats of silver Hammerite… (one of the few advantages of a silver car -plus the sills will be under the sliders). If I can find a cheap spray gun I have three cans of Dinitrol in the shed that will be injected into the sills as well due good measure!
I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!
