DISCO3.CO.UK Knowledge Base/Wiki
Hi all,
I'm proud to announce the launch of a new section of DISCO3.CO.UK - the knowledgebase/wiki.
It's designed to supplement the forum by displaying "static" information in a more accessible format than the forum can allow, and it will eventually replace a lot of the sticky posts which currently clutter the place up.
It works in exactly the same way as Wikipedia, anyone with membership of the "KB Editors" group can edit pages and contribute to the KB, so although it appears to be a static reference it can be highly dynamic and flexible.
If you would like to create or edit content in the KB please visit http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/groupcp.php , select the "KB Editors" group and press "View Information" and then "Join Group". I will then review your membership request, and if I think you are suitable then you will receive create and edit permissions. I may start automatic entry to this group after 50 posts or so on the forum, but this is to be confirmed.
To create an article, either click on a Red Link (such as the EPB issues link currently on the Main Page) to start a page which has been linked to but not yet created, or use the search box to create a brand new article.
For example, if you wanted to create an article about the alloy wheel options, then type in "Wheel Options" to the search box on the left hand side, and click Go. On the page which appears, click the create this page link.
To edit existing articles/pages, visit that page and then click "Edit" on the left hand side under "Views".
There's a heck of a lot of D3 knowledge in people's heads and posted on the forums in various places, it would be excellent to bring it all together into one resource
Login with your DISCO3 username/password, it doesn't remember your login when you go across from the forum, but you can ask the wiki to remember you.
Let me know what you think,
Martin

Just tried, Martin - the site doesn't like my username/password - I'm sure I got it right.
I know when I set up a wiki that security was the most complex bit, and very easy to get wrong with just the slightest command prompt error.
Like the concept a lot - good luck with getting it going. I'm on a whisky diet. I've lost three days already.

This is still in early days, the layout isn't great and there are probably features missing (linking images, for example) but please let me have any feedback about missing features, errors or bugs and I will sort them out.
A formatting example:
===Heading 1===
Stuff about tip number one, etc etc, blah. '''This bit in bold'''.

Hi both, it might be because you're not a member of the "KB Editors" group.
Instead of PMing me for membership (as I stated above) - you can request membership by visiting http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/groupcp.php selecting the "KB Editors" group and pressing "View Information" and then "Join Group".

I try to log in, but whatever I do I always get a Login Error. I tried my Username/Password for the forum, I tried to create a new 'Beaker' login, nothing seems to work. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
Cheers,
Paul
Edit: My reply and your post crossed: it works now. Thanks! 2006 Zermatt Silver TDV6 'SE' Auto, Mantec sump guard, Frontrunner roofrack, Lightforce 140s, split charge system and... a Jetboil.

To be able to log in on the KB please request editing permissions via the groups page:
Visit the Groups page (clicky or from the menu next to Calendar)
Select "KB Editors" from the "Join Groups" list - probably the only option unless you are a mod - and click "View Information". On the info page press "Join Group". I will get an e-mail prompting me to confirm membership.
This process is in place to stop people joining up solely to cause destruction to the KB.
