My new 2015 Discovery 4 HSE Lux
Hello! First time to the forum. Thought I would post about my recent purchase of a lovely 2015 HSE Lux D4 with a mere 14k miles! Loaded up with the Black Pack, Vision Assist, and Exterior Detection Packs. Wish it had rear locking diff, and rear air con.. but after searching for nearly 3 months scouring AutoTrader and LR Approved Used, I think this is the best deal I could have found.
Planning on keeping this until the wheels fall off.
I am a previous owner of a 2013 D4 with the 5.0 V8 (USA spec), which I owed for 5 years and was an absolute gem. I had some Compomotive PD1880's, BFG TA KO2 tires, Voyager rock sliders, and a few other gadgets. Never dealt with any repairs beyond general wear and tear. I am familiar with most of the D4 quirks like going through brakes, LCA bushings, water pump / crossover pipe issues, etc. The SDV6 is a completely new motor to me. Any advice on what I should keep an eye out for?
Any advice for preventive measures to prolong the life of the truck? Underbody sprays, etc?
Any moderate / scenic trails to tackle? (I am new to the UK!) Thinking of taking the Mrs for a road trip up to Scotland in a month or so.

So, I just registered to Topix and put my truck's VIN#.
The main page comes up and lists my truck as a 2016 Model Year. However, my dealer paperwork all says 2015 and the license plate reads as a 15 plate on the truck.
It is a Euro6 compliant AdBlue version truck with only 14k miles from new.
Any ideas?2016 D4 HSE Lux

Hi Surfrider
Don’t worry, nothing to be concerned about. Mine is a 15 plate D4 that is a 2016 model year (MY) that I purchased new at the end of June 2015. I was told by the dealer it was a 2016 MY. From that point they had Euro6 compliance which included Adblue. I know that rear AC was not an option and, from my own experience, certain trim colours became unavailable.
Enjoy.
CheersGary

I think most manufacturers release the following years models during Q3 / Q4 of that year, so a 2016 spec model in the latter half of 2015 is pretty standard - totally different manufacturer but my GTI was ordered in June 2018, WLTP issues delayed production until September and it was finally delivered in December 2018 with 2019 spec.
Lovely looking car btwNow Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.

Thanks guys. Great news for me.
It also explains why I had such a lengthy unsuccessful look for a late model HSE Lux with Rear Air-Con & Active Rear Locking Diff. In nearly 4 months of searching, I literally only saw 1 with all the option boxes ticked. It was also a 15 plate, but was sold nearly as quickly as it listed for sale. Never saw one since.
Rear air would have been nice for sure. Overall, still feel quite lucky to have found this gem!2016 D4 HSE Lux
