Has anyone ever had any power issues with their car towing? We have just returned from a long trip towing a 1.4t cattle trailer, even on the flat the car felt like it was working hard and hills were an effort.
We also had the "Engine System Fault" code appear towards the end of the trip, with grey smoke from exhaust and even less power - this cleared when ignition was turned off / on.
The trailer was new and I have had the same issue with both box style and flat trailers, to make it worse I just returned the trailer using a FreeLander 1 and had no issues pulling it.......
The car is:
- '55 plate 2.7 TDV6
- approx. 90k miles
- EGR blanked
- intercooler hose changed last year
- the car is fully serviced
Has anyone else suffered similar problems or is it just a case of plugging it in and seeing if there are any fault codes?

Could be 'crap fuel', filter clogged or turbo problem. I am sure ones with more knowledge will answer.

Getting the car plugged in and fault codes read will be the easiest way of finding the cause. Anything else is speculation and will scare you...2011 MY D4 HSE
