Formula 1 at Enfield (South Strathfield), is on the Hume Hwy (Liverpool Rd) & about $75/night for 2. It's about a 20 minute walk to Strathfield station, which is like Richmond & Nth Melbourne stations here combined. You can get just about anywhere in Syd ,by train, from Strathfield.

I Haven't stayed at Formule 1 but, IIRC, the prices are per room, accommodating up to 4 people (I think). However, there are no ensuite facilities, rather they are the "old style" shared.

They have en-suites. Some are very small & some are average motel room size.
No in room tea / coffee facs but there is a common food area.
Minimalist motels I think they call it. Lowest end of Accor's range.
Bed/s, TV, chair, clock-radio & en-suite thats all. Did you think I would leave you crying,

I have been told the Parramatta/City line has improved greatly. Better than the city rail website which has been down all night. I looked up some times for you. Weekday around 8am will take you 30 minutes to Wynard on a non stop to lovely redfern, central, town hall and 39 minutes with 5 stops to redfern. Weekends will take you around 40 - 45 minutes - this is all if they run ontime and there are no breakdowns or floods.
Parramatta has most of the things (shopwise) the city has. It is closer to the mountains though

Ahh the Bluey's. Now that is worth the trip.
I'd drive up to The Blue Mountains though as there are sooo many things to see.
Just like The Dandenongs but bigger towns (Katoomba is the biggest), elevation and spread. Did you think I would leave you crying,
When there's room in my D3 for 7,

Vast differences.
The Grampians are wild and rugged. A much drier & warmer climate.
The Blue Mountains have there own ruggedness but the wetter climate sustains totally different vegetation. Some of the dense rainforrest contains some of the worlds oldest tree species e.g. the Woollami Pine.
The Blueys also have Villages dotted around and up the Great Western Hwy.
I would think that you would find more to do in the Blueys than The Grampians. Did you think I would leave you crying,

The Blue Mountains are basically sandstone, while, I think (I really should check this) the Gampians are essentially Basalt/Granite. The result is entirely different formations, from the "Walls" (cliffs) in the central Blue Mtns to the "pagodas" to the north of Lithgow.

I wasn't going to go into the geology of the two, as to most people dirt is soil is dirt.
