| Auto dip on rear view mirror NOT cancelled |
|
Was getting annoyed by not spotting push bikes in rear view mirror, as it auto dips v.radicaly whilst sat in traffic now it's dark on the commute home. I worry about the way some of them weave in & out of lines of traffic, & don't want to squosh one.
So in setting menu swithched auto dip to OFF yeasterday.
Blow me all the way home tonight it has auto dipped, so resorted to sticking bits of pay&display sticker over the light sensors on the mirror (which works).
Any bright ideas out there, or have I got a software prob?

The "dip" in the settings menu relates to the dipping door mirrors when reverse is selected, not the anti-dazzle for the rear view mirror! Sounds like a duff sensor in the mirror - no software involved, I am pleased to report.

When you say door mirrors dipping on reverse is this only on those cars with elecrtric folders?
Or should it do it on an 'S' as it's always been set to on & I've never seen it do anything!

OK so this wont work on an 'S'.
What exactly does it do & on what spec?
Also why is the cabin rear view mirror so sensitive?, and why cant I turn it off!

The collapsing mirrors are something else.
Now the reverse dip is controlled by the seat control module - which you should have for the settings menu to be working - even if you don't have the eletricery seats.
Does Lazy Entry work on your car? If it does, then I suspect that the mirror memory will work too, though I really am not certain. You could try by making sure the reverse dip is set to on, select reverse gear and adjust the mirrors (the dip down so you can see where your rear wheels are going); when you deselect reverse, the mirrors should revert to the previous position. For this to work, you must have Lazy Entry enabled to. If that doesn't do it, then it doesn't - that is, work without having the memory electricery seats.
Is all that as clear as a glass of neat gin?

Don't forget to store the positions with the seat memory

Lazy entry?
This is getting a bit too deep for me, have opened a can of worms here, I only want the interior mirror to stop going dark like those sad sunglasses in a well lit room.

Ah, but you cannot do that if you don't have memory seats.
However, that is where the memory module is clever - it can store the settings manually, ala pressing the button yerself, or if the Lazy Entry is turned on, will recall the stored settings when the relevant key is used to either open the vehicle or the ignition is cycled.
(My mind isn't all on this at the moment; I am waging war on an influx of rodents (large type) in the garden that are after the bird food. However, it is a tad damp here right now, and even the rats don't appear to fancy popping out for a takeaway.......cracking shot from the bathroom window yesterday evening with the .270, poor critter didn't know what had hit it and it made the perfect hole to plant a daffodil bulb in afterwards)

Can an "S" be magicked to allow dipping mirrors on reverse? All the bits and pieces must be there.
