I have a Premier Power Welder in my Old Mitsubishi Pajero. With this kit I can run a stick welder or a Ready Welder II, and also 115V appliances like angle grinders etc. The kit included a 160 amp alternator. The Disco 3 alternator is 150 amp, which is quite close. Another question is if the welder will influence the electronics in the car? I wouldn't think so, as it's possible to use a winch, which draws a lot of current, but you never know?
Does anyone have any ideas or experience, please let me know.
Cheers,

I think you've already got it sorted, but maybe an additional battery to power the welder would ensure you have no main battery issues? Bodsys Brake Bible

What about back emf's, and induced spikes etc. in the D3's brain during welding?
I ask with trepidation and little useful knowledge 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods
