New to a D4
Picked up my first D4 on Friday having been in baby FL2 and Evoque for a number of years.
60 mile drive home from the dealer and couldnt be happier
1 owner, full documented service history with all receipts 97k on the clock. Previous owner wasnt shy in paying for things to be done but there is no evidence of the belts being changed although the front one looks brand new so ill look into that further before getting them done.
tracking was off so got that sorted Saturday, and priced up my local garages for service and belts to be changed. My local LR specialist will do the service but cant do the belts as he insists its a body off job and he doesnt have a 2 post lift. Local indy says they can do them without body off
first 35 mile commute to work this morning, started on just under 28mpg average and ended on just under 31mpg doing 70-75mph up the A1. Only 2-3mpg less than my FL2 auto

I mentioned to you Cavendish Motor Workshop at Hasland. They are LR specialists and certainly don’t take off the body to do the belts (or turbos - I have past experience! ).

Don't believe this, sadly the car is exaggerating !
The only way you can get a true, or at least more accurate, fuel consumption is to brim the tank, and then calculate the fuel used when next you brim the tank.
Over the last 21,498 miles I have used 897.27 litres of fuel giving 24.0 mpg, which in my experience is typical.
The display regularly shows 3-4 mpg better than this - a shame it's not true.
NJSSAm I Gammon or Woke ? - I neither know nor care.

1959 MGA roadster - 1.9L Peter Burgess Engine - 5 speed gearbox
Past LRs - Multiple FFRs, Discos & a Series I - some petrol, some diesel,
none Electric or H2 fuel cell - yet.

the average MPG seems to be an inaccuracy across the whole range of LR vehicles.
but at the moment im just comparing my Freelander dash MPG against the D4 dash mpg so both will be inaccurate to a degree but for early comparison it seems ok.

cheers Nigel, it was Tonks 4x4 that said it was a body off firstly due to access to the rear belt but also because it was worth getting the turbos and other bits looked at and general cleaning and chassis maintenance at the same time. The underside of mine looks fairly clean with just mimimal surface rust on the chassis and other bits so im not concerned about that at the moment.
ill definitely give Cavendish a shout as well for getting them done

Fog surrounds black/silver, black/silver/black grill, black LR grill badge and black Discovery bonnet letters.
I'll get black side vents, smoked side indicators and black boot letters next.
Then the black rear 2014 style lights
All from powerfuluk.
Booking it in for a full service where they will strip brakes and all filters etc etc and then its belts time. Front belt looks almost new but I have no paperwork to support it being changed so will do it asap.
After Xmas it will be extended rood rails, roof bars and arb style side awning.

But why not just get your vents painted?
Oh, and what about wheels ...... black or staying silver. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Painting vents is also an option. Replacements are £40 so I'd need to look into painting costs.
Wheels I hadn't thought about them yet. News to work out if black in that style would look ok with the body colour.
