No smoke. No smell. Nothing. I only commute less than 2 miles.
Went for a walk along the route, and I can more or less trace from failure to seaizure locations.
Got a very expensive box on wheels, and doesn’t look like I am going to be in a position to replace the engine. MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

So sorry to hear your news
Can’t help but feel on borrowed time when I read things like this Andy
Someone could make a fortune with a sensor which sounded an alarm on low oil pressure or low oil level.
It can't be difficult to do.

According to handbook , should get a low oil pressure alarm?? Anyway checked mine and level ok albeit it’s not at the max anymore. Starting to think 6 monthly oil changes might be an idea ??

In the D3, the low pressure warning light is instantly illuminated as the pressure drops too low
In the D4, it doesn't...
Sure it was Robbie who had a good post about the oddities of the oil pressure warning systems...My D3 Build Thread

I do check the oil lelve weekly. According to the sensor, it wasn't using anything.
For what it is worth, I have just sent an email to LR customer services asking for the parameters it uses to determine a low oil level notification.MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone
