Underbody Spare Tire Mount: Full Size Spare Fitment
Likely addressed elsewhere here in the D/LR 3/4 Forum & Threads but I've not found it, and want to ask if a full size mounted spare tire, i.e. 255/50/R20 will fit in the space provided for the underbody spare tire?
I really hate those "temporary" spares provided by vehicle manufacturers and would far more prefer to purchase another OE wheel and tire and mount it underneath the vehicle - just don't know if the space is big enough and it the spare tire winch mechanism is strong enough to hold a full spare, i.e. 45 lbs or 20kg.
If that's an OEM size tyre then yes it will. If it's on a vehicle with Adblu then they are all full size.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

Yes indeed it will - and (here in the UK at least) most people have them rather than the standard one.

They are the same diameter as a 255/55/19, I have a 275/45/21 as a spare, again virtually same diameter, no problem fitting. Non add-blue.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Ditto. I had a space saver but bought a full size 20 from a breakers as I don’t want to run on space saver or wife having that with kids if she on her own.
Only thing to add. Get a spare wheel protector if you go full size as they are commonly nicked.

Thanks to those who contributed, i found a spare rim, purchased another full size tire and it mounted up just properly. Only part I questioned myself on was the capacity of the winch while I assume LR provides the same winch irrespective of whether the spare is full size one or the emergency type spare. I assumed it is the same.

They are the same in this case, but never ever assume anything with LRs It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Motoring fools are everywhere and are defined by how they drive not what they drive!
