Selling car to Sytner (Guy Salmon) was painless |
|
Due to emmigrating, I needed to sell my 2014 Disco 4, but needed to do so within a very narrow time window..
I tried various We Buy Any xxxx variants. One, which was fairly pushy, offered a reasonable price based on my description and some emailed photos, but had fairly punitive fees if their guy came out, inspected in, reduced the offer and I were to decline. So I didn’t have a good feeling about that, since the reviews online were all by people with derivitives of the name Daniel...
Anyway, I completed an online form on Sytner’s website, was emailed by Anthony. He gave me a price (which was the same as the highest We Buy Any xxxx) and I took it to Guy Salmon for an in person inspection and confirmation.
On sale day, I handed it over in about 3 minutes, the cash was in my account the next day (would have been same day if I’d not gone in at the end of the day).
Painless transaction and the best price short of a private sale, which unfortunately wouldn’t have worked in the time window I had.

Nice one! If you dont mind me asking what did you get for it? (pm me if sensitive) as genuinely interested to know. For me its always worth a punt to try a private sale with the caveat it needs to be completed by X date. Its how I got my first D4 Stolen - D4 Loire Blue

They gave me £23k.
If you are benchmarking, my Disco was 64 plate. Full Land Rover service history. SE with a damaged wing mirror cap and a tiny car park ding on one of the doors. About 36k miles
They weren’t interested in any of the accessories I have other than load cover, though I wasn’t clever enough to think of pulling out the mats to sell on here (once I have enough posts!)
I needed to sell on the same day I boarded a plane (ie use the car up to that day) and I just didn’t have time to mess about with tire kickers / risk a private sale not happening - but I didn’t think I got a terrible deal so on balance it was ok. In different circumstances I’d have sold privately for sure.

PS just looked st the photos of your Disco on other posts - stunning colour. By the time I come back to the UK hopefully there will be a new Defender and hopefully LR won’t have stuffed up the design. If it’s good, that’s the colour I’d be wanting!

Thanks,
Yes price sounds good for a quick sale, I’ll look out for it on their sales site
I picked up my last D4 at auction after guy selling had done similar to you with WBAC and I remember thinking I wish he’d listed it privately as it was the colour I wanted
Good luck with your move

Hope it gives the next owner (maybe you?!) many happy miles. I loved it.
Cheers! Dave

Noticed that. All dealerships do the same, cover the front number, but leave the rear exposed. Can’t be a security thing, maybe they just want to get their name on the photos.

Didn’t think to scroll through photos. Yep, that’s the one.
