Hi all,
Had my Disco 3 HSE TDV6 in for glow plug replacement as none are working. However garage could not remove any of them.
Looking for recommendations for someone to do this for me.
Have a quote from OGS Mechanics (London) to visit my home and remove plugs and refit for £650+ VAT and I source the new plugs.
Anyone used them before? Recommend anyone else? Location is North West Kent/South East London.
Thanks in advance.
Ivan Best regards
Ivan.

A garage near me did it for nothing for me. I provided the glow plugs, and they did it for me free of charge.
Not bad service!!

I've just paid more than that to have 4 replaced - all broke and required drilling.

Oddly I called a chap something like threadmaster, I chatted with the guy and he quoted £480+vat to drill out 4, would not touch 1 & 3 on the passenger side (to hard) and asked me to disassemble and re-assemble the engine for him. Needless to say I did not do it.

Glow Plug removal solution |
|
If its of help to anyone I just had my glow plugs replaced by Midland Diesel Solutions in Hinckley - speak with Pete or Jan
After getting wild prices from LR Indies and LR themselves - all preferring to avoid the job if at all possible I found these guys. They are well versed in this job and have all eventualities covered with a worst case price (if all snap) at a fraction of what the above quote (most seem to go straight to body off / head off situation if one snaps); all done in situ
On top of this they are also straight up chaps, as luck would have it they managed to get all of mine out without snapping one so my overall price was much reduced ! Happy days - I think this kind of service deserves a plug and it will be music to peoples ears if you are currently like I was; debating the future of my D3
And by the way, what Robbie says is spot on - the glow plugs make much more of a difference than just a cold start. The drive is like a different car - acceleration, low end pick up is a marked improvement
Cheers

Obviously I had the best possible outcome (unusual for me and my D3!!) but I was comfortable with their worst case/guaranteed price - especially after all other quotes involved signing up to a possible body off / head off job. For some, this scenario is only last resort (tip dropping into chamber as Parky mentioned) but it remains a possibility none the less
Hot tub - you will need to leave it with them for a day or two depending on what happens - I'm on the same train line as you - couple of changes to get across to Hinckley but not too bad. They even come and pick you up from the station!
Good luck all

Hi.
When I got mine done.
I travelled from Kent to Alltrack 4x4 in Malvern. They have the specialist kit needed if they snap and come recommend.
Luckily for me they got them all out.
If you don't fancy the trip I've heard good reports from QP online. Who are based in Maidstone.
Hope this helps.
