Hi
Taken the plunge and bought my first ever Land Rover . Discovery 3 2005 in java black. Really impressed with the ride and comfort and also terrified by the horror stories etc. I have had a few teething problems with HDC fault etc fixed by replacing battery ( fingers crossed) and now having intermittent starting problems but going to check earth points at the weekend.
They certainly make you earn your enjoyment of them don’t they. I am sure there will others but hopefully the expertise on here will help sort the problems out.
Looking forward to be brave enough to off-road at some point 😃
Thanks for letting me join.

My motto with any new car to me is change everything, oils/belts (check oil pump in the D3 case) etc strip and check brakes, any time you ntoice the slightest thing doenst seem right attend to it as ignoring it will cost.
Ps welcome

Hi Colin, I’d never owned one till last year when we got ours, they are amazing, but worrying at times. No real problems with ours yet. It’s the only car I’ve driven that when driven through a decent sized puddle can place all of it on the windscreen, kids love it. Welcome, loads of knowledge on here.

Hi
Thanks for the replies and welcome messages. The first thing I did was get all the oils , filters etc changed and a general health check at our local Indy so have a good list of items to do and the critical stuff was done straight away.
The one thing I forgot was to get them to check the oil pump to see if it is the updated model is it just a matter of taking off the engine cover to see ?.
I have receipts for the belts being done some 20000 miles ago so they should be ok for a time.
