I had Duratracs on my old Ranger and loved them, but do more on road than off road miles now. Looks like i'll be going for AT3's just shortly after seeing them recommended on here.

We still get fantastic feedback on the AT3's.
Hello
I have a D3 4.4 V8 with 255 55 19 Cooper AT3 since two months, last week I made an outing with friends in Auvergne (center of France) and on a sloping road and the disco out of the ass and came to rub a fallen tree trunk. I was inflated to 1.8 bar and the tire hit the tree and tore.
not so funny to change a sloping tire and back
Flanks are fragile and not suitable for TT other than the path.
On the road they are very good and silent
I ended up buying Cooper LTZ's in the end.
I'm sure Duratrac is a great tyre BUT...... They're only Q rated. And should the worst happen can you live with yourself if any thing happened to your loved ones ????
And will your insurance company stand by you ????? I very much doubt it !!!
.
I have it in writing from the Ins Co that Duratracs are fine & it's not that often i'm tempted to exceed 99mph.
LTZ's are being phased out/replaced by the Cooper AT3 Sport (H Rated M&S No Symbol).
Also new offering from Goodyear due soonish (on top of the Wrangler AT Adventure (H Rated M+S but no symbol)), touted at the long awaited successor to the legendary MTRPaul.

Im getting confused - are AT3's made by Cooper or General Grabber?

As far as I understand it;
Cooper do an AT3 sport
General Grabber do an AT3
Pirelli have a All Terrain Plus to replace their AT3
Is this wrong? Im sure someone with more knowledge will be along
My question is can we use either a 255 or 275 x 55 x 20 on a D4 or does it have to be a 50 or less and does it have to be 255 or can we use 275?D4 HSE Lux MY16 Club Waitomo

In order of aggressiveness. All bar the last are AT’s.
Pirelli Scorpion ATR (H Rated M&S no symbol) - Not used them, never been a big Pirelli fan due to fast wear rates though others rate highly.
GGAT3 (H Rated ❄️) Based on the AT2 which I’ve used along with the AT, not used these, however a good compromise for rd/off rd, noisy when worn, a favourite of many.
Goodyear Wrangler AT Adventure (H Rated M+S but no symbol) - Relatively new to market, not used.
Apparently a new offering due soon touted as the long awaited replacement for the fabled MTR.
Cooper Zeon LTZ (H Rated)- Removed mine after 9 months as I found them to clog up in mud & skittish in the wet. Nuff said. NOW BEING PHASED OUT!
Cooper AT3 Sport (H Rated M&S No Symbol).
Replacement for LTZ Not used & only just on the market.
Toyo Open Country + (H rated M&S) - Again not used them (Jonny ‘Lab Rat’ Hill to report.
Goodyear Duratrac (Q Rated M&S ❄️) - As fitted to the London-Beijing D4’s, speed rating downgraded (from S) as they are now classed (along with below) as a Pro Comp Tyre, on my 3rd set & love them, no issues in any surface I’ve met inc heavy snow.
GGX3, (Q Rated) - the only MT offering, not used, good reviews.
Tokyo also do a MT but not followed up on info yet.
Hope that helpsPaul.

Thanks for putting it all in one place Paul.
I’m about to post separately a negative about GG AT3

and am looking to replace them with either the new Pirelli All Terrain Plus (replaces their ATR and has 3PMSF) or the Goodyear Duratrac.
It will be a leap of faith either way as the Pirelli is new and the Duratrac is probably too aggressive for most of my driving, but when you need it you need it, right?
It may come down to availability in the end.2016 D4 Landmark SDV6 (Euro6), Zanzibar (late run D4)

No probs, all above based on experience/feedback & a little research. Goodyear not expecting a new UK delivery of Duratrac till later this month into UK, Tyreleader have stock though. Also worth keeping an eye on Costco as they’ve been running a good deal on Duratracs when in stockPaul.

Be warned!!
I purchased some Duratracs from Costco Reading in November when they last had an offer on.
The fitter called me and asked what vehicle they were being fitted to. When I told him he refused to fit them stating they were not rated for the car. We had a discussion but to no avail, he would not budge. He also quoted insurance but my brokers were already informed that I was fitting Q rated tyres. (They were only interested if the alloy wheel was different, if on original rims they were fine but I insisted they noted it).
Costco would still sell them to me however so I ended up getting them fitted elsewhere which added to the cost.
Tyre fitter talking through his Harris, weight rating is fine at 111XL, speed rating at insurers discrepancy.
Should have mentioned to fitter that LR specced them on the Journey of Discovery vehicles that went from London to Beijing.
Incidentally seen some whilst on hols that have the 3 peaks symbol on, cure asking Goodyear why we can’t have them over herePaul.
