15V+? Cause for concern?
In my recently acquired Disco 3, behind the park brake switch there's an eyesore voltage meter that shows the voltage running through the system. Display is stable until it exceeds 15V after which it flashes constantly - which frankly is a pain. Presumably it's trying to warn me of something?
Question: If the alternator is pushing 15V+ through the system, is this cause for concern?
I'm seriously thinking of having this thing removed, as it's becomming boring ....

It’s fine if it is supplying 15 volts.

Usually a sign the battery is not that healthy, or really low.

D3s are designed to charge at over 15v in cold weather for the first 10-12 minutes and then drop back to around 14.5v until the battery is fully charged, it could be the after market amp meter is not designed to go over 15v. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Prior to start up the voltage showing is 10.8-11.0 volts, which seems low for what is suppose to be a new battery. My local indy fitted one to see if the one that came with the vehicle was the cause of the "HTC system fault reporting unavailable" fault. Fault report still there on startup each time, so assume not.

New battery time.
PS Oops, didn’t see the new battery bit. Faulty battery would be my WAG.

No, it's the result of a rather iffy second-hand alternator fitted by the previous owner that is pushing out low, and then high, voltages. I dug out the receipt from the paperwork I was handed when I picked the vehicle up, and it shows a twenty-five quid item off of a breaker via Ebay. Having a new Denso fitted, which certainly ain't cheap - around twice the price of an alternator I fitted in my '89 110CSW some years back. Ouch...
