Dash display is the nuts mate much better shows the cruise set speed in mph
Has digital Speedo as well as the dial
When I was in France you can go into the menu and change it to kph
Retractable mirrors when you arm the alarm
No ignition key just keep it in my pocket which is good
Oil electronic dipstick seems ok as when I check mine it said to add 1.1 Ltd of oil which I did

Hi

Many thks for the info Thumbs Up

Indeed I’ve got to buy the black box PCBS and the left hand steering wheel cruise control switch

Assume the pcbs fit on the back of the switches that mount onto the steering wheel , steering wheel I bought is off a 2009 D4

Ref a heated steering wheel, see you’ve got to buy the correct heated steering wheel in the beginning , along with the correct rotary connector

Shame u didn’t have both side D4 switches for sale that has already been adapted Laughing

Thks again

Funny enough I was reading about the ghost alarms

Till I read the bit in the write up , which I then assumed there’s an issue with them refusing to fit there systems to land rovers ie, thieves knowing a way round it ???

Hopefully you’ve got a different system fitted as I imagine they won’t warranty there products with that advisory

For that’s its worth I also wouldn’t fit any keyless locking system, but of course not my vehicle

Plus I imagine the ins will be a lot higher along with them possibly them refusing ur ins because ghost won’t fit them as not approved for land rovers

I'm looking at putting a new tracker in the my new car when I get it - an optional feature is it can be immobilised from your phone (even if the scrote has a key) - apparently according to fitter, it does not work on the CAN network but the starter circuit (?) - just doing a bit more investigation

Just spoken to the company that supplies the trackers, obviously wouldn't go into full details over the phone but its built into the software of the Tracking device (product is Trident) and doesn't break into the CAN of the car. the phone app can (a) track your car and (b) you can immobilise from anywhere where you can get a signal (and its Thatcham approved) - whether the scrote has the key or not.

I'm not in anyway associated with the company (apart from being a customer for past 8.5 years) but this does sound a good product. Its an additional £50 pa on the c. £150 pa subscription.

I've used a tracker from them for as above, 8.5 years, they call me when battery disconnected (servicing etc.) or when vehicle is moving not under its own power (when I was on the big yellow taxi last year Embarassed ). Odd time I've had a query, very helpful.

I'll post again when I get it fitted and working. When I called the fitter yesterday, he was fitting one to a Maclaren, so assuming it can't be rubbish. He only mentioned it to me when I asked him about Ghosts.

I'm also getting a Rhino security post fitted at home - sadly lots of thefts where I live - I know nothing is theft free but hopefully a combination of security aids will make the rats move on.

Sweden 2016 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 HSE Auto Santorini BlackDiscovery 4

Waking this thread up again. I know there are a lot of opinions out there regarding keyless entry but I've had it on every car since 2007 without issues and don't want to be without it now when I move to a D4.

My issue is that not to many D4 MY16 were sold in Sweden and many were quite low spec. After searching a long time I now found a very well maintained low milage SDV6 HSE which has all the equipment I want except keyless entry. Did anyone find out how much work it is to retrofit and if it is at all possible?

Having never done this mod (my car had it already) I couldn’t say for sure but I think it would be hard to say without seeing what was already in place.

The system has a number of antenna in the car so you will need those and the wiring to them. You may need the KVM which is (on the later disco 4s) behind the right boot panel. The 4 door handle assemblies complete with matching covers (colour coded non OEM covers are reasonable from powerfulluk but have a few fitting issues).

The CCF will need editing which may be fun, after all , if you get it wrong, you may not be able to unlock and start you vehicle.

The biggest “fun” would be in obtaining the wiring and taking the interior out to install everything.

Thanks @M3bobby, if James1974 is correct there is a good chance the loom has the necessary wiring. In this case the car also has the big Meridian Surround system.

As far as I understand I need new door locks, external handles and door antennas. Not sure if I also need the door handle on the inside.

James1974 original question still stands, does the upgrade also need a new central locking control unit (CCF) and new keys or can they just be reprogrammed.

Finally @M3bobby what is the KVM and what does it do? How can I find out if one is fitted without stripping the car.

It actually seems all the handles and antennas are available here in Sweden from a wrecked HSE MY16 meaning the parts are fairly decent in price.

KVM = Keyless Vehicle Module, black plastic box found behind the right boot panel.

Shown in this photo borrowed from member famousfive.
