Front lower arm replacement - any tips?

Hi,
I’m halfway through replacing my front lower arms. I’ve undone all the bolts, but am stuck at 2 points - the ball joint bolt is stuck solid, and the rear pivot bolt is also stuck to the Bush, presumably corroded on.

Anyone have any tips? My ball joint splitter fork isn’t wide enough to get around the Land Rover one, and my cup type splitter isn’t large enough. Hammering seems to do nothing, and heat around the bracket hasn’t helped either!

not sure about the ball joint splitter... but i used an angle grinder to cut all the bolts off. I actually ended up cutting the ball joint out with the angle grinder too.. generated so much heat it fell out Smile

Have you got the nut off the ball joint ? If you have wind it back on a few threads and then belt the housing the ball joint cone goes into with a ball pein hammer. It’ll fall out easy. Iirc there a “lumpy” bit on the strut which looks ideal place to whack it. Thumbs Up
