GET ME A DIESEL IN THE USA! |
|
How or when is Landrover going to bring a diesel into the USA? I currently would not again buy another 15mpg gas vehicle. Does anyone have info on how I can get a diesel here?
thanks,
carl

Getting diesel fuel, no problem! Getting a vehicle that gets 26mpg vs. 15, not easy!
How is it that a company can produce a great vehicle, yet miss the opportunity to lead the market and capture sales?

Being a limey and having had an R.V. holiday in the U.S. I can hapily say that Diesel is for trucks only.
(At least that is the mentality).
I hired a 30' R.V. and it had a 6.5litre V10 PETROL engine and I averaged 11MPG. But wait... with the fuel cost difference it worked out at 30 MPG compared with the UK.
Who's the idiot???

Know the US definition of a dual-fuel car??
One that runs on both regular AND premium gasoline!
Told to me with a smile by a US citizen on a recent Florida holiday... Cheers

I thought the issue with getting vehicles into the US was the long/difficult/expensive approval/certification process, guess up to very recently the market hasn't been there in enough volume to warrant LR going to the time/trouble/expense.
If the market is there I wonder how long the process to import a new variant takes??? Cheers

carl wrote:Getting diesel fuel, no problem! but low sulphur and quality diesel for this modern engine is hence no TDV6 for the states.
carl wrote:How is it that a company can produce a great vehicle, yet miss the opportunity to lead the market it does that already and doesn't as you might believe need the states to accomplish this

Is Landrover not stopping the production of petrol engined cars from sometime this year? If so hang on and you will get your wish of a diesel Discovery 3

Just kidding.
