how to Reset Brake fault light and message

I have had a long standing problem with my EPB Screeching, which is now fully resolved (stripped cleaned and reset and it works again!)

However, I still have the amber brake warning light on the dash and the message "parking brake fault" on the LCD Big Cry

I have tried to clear it using the GAP IID but clearing all ECU faults doesnt make it go away.

Does anyone know how to clear this off please - its been driving me nuts for a long time now!!

Thanks!

M

Seems you still have a fault which has not been resolved. What is the read out from the control modules?

Thanks for the reply - the GAP IID reports no fault.

The dash message is "Park Brake Fault"

It was suggested to me that if the EPB detected a fault more than 10 (?) times, it logged it as a permanent fault. I dont know if this is true, but the EPB is now fully functionally working, yet the dash message and amber light persist.

all ideas gratefully received!

Something not adding up there, if the fault exists it will be stored in the relevant ECU. You can't have a dash signal indicating a fault when there is no fault! The only exception I can think of being an unlikely short circuit, which in itself should show up as a general electrical fault.

I would suggest you go through ALL the modules again with IID, you may have missed one which is storing DTC. So start with engine, then ABS, SRS, Ins pack, Ride level C.M, All Terrain C.M, Body C.M. Steering angle C.M, Transfer case C.M, Parking brake C.M, and Vehicle dynamics C.M. Entertainment, HVAC, and other non relevant systems you can ignore, but its no harm to have a look while you're there.

Good luck, its got to be there there somewhere Thumbs Up
