So, following the demise of my engine yesterday, I'm looking at options of what course to take.
One option is to source a good, second-hand engine at a reasonable (?) price.
I've got my eyes on one at a breakers. It's a 2015 30K complete engine. Question is, will this be compatible with the systems in my 2010MY vehicle. i.e. Will it slot in and all the electronics will match and it bolts to a 6-speed auto box.
Secondary question, anyone dealt with :

Are thet reliable ? Feedback seems to be generally good.
Many thanks for any help/advice. Stressful times Morris Dancers: Drinkers with A Dance Problem

From what I can tell, they are a used engine comparison site. You put your details in, and then you get back quotes for used engines from "trusted" breakers.
Ive not used them, or heard of anyone that has, but as far as I can tell, they just do the comparison.
If you look into it, proceed with caution though!
Just an idea.
You would need someone more technical than me to confirm your question, but I believe the engine units are the same, so don't see why it wouldn't. Not sure on things like injectors etc though!
Really feel for you

Yes, it's a position I'd always hoped not to be in.
Seems to be a choice to either fix the car or call it a day and look at raiding the piggy bank and buying a newer one.
Fixing the car means lots of dosh for a LR refurbished or take a chance on a second hand one hopefully to last a few more years Morris Dancers: Drinkers with A Dance Problem

I replaced my D3 engine with one from a breakers about 7 years ago, the car is still going strong, I would take a punt, there’s no saying a new one won’t go pop either.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

No, this was some years ago, D3 engine was £2300 (before they all started going). Disco Mikey did it, I believe it’s what really put him on the map as the whole saga was horrendous before finding Mikey.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

£3k for main dealer mis diagnosis, very long story, about £3.2k for initial work replacement, clutch etc, and £1k or so for useless warranty, oh plus £500 for D4 hire as I had arranged to go to convoy for heroes but warranty company took so long to inspect and decline, mine wasn’t ready to go in timeJoined the BMWX5 45e group

You would think so......I tried to sue them but all local motor engineers ran a mile when they heard what garage it was, they used the most aggressive lawyers in Glasgow.
I had a letter threatening to sue me, as did Martin for allowing my serialisation of it all on this site!
I couldn’t afford the potential court fees and the risk of losing, even though they had stood in front of me and lied about what they had done (they told me they had done a compression test along with £1ks worth of other tests and needed six new injectors as all tests were ok, which as I believed they had done everything I gave them the go ahead for. It then ran worse than I gave it to them, so when I asked for all results they admitted they hadn’t done the compression test), remember this was a LR main dealer!
So the garage is question has been taken over now, but even though it is less than a mile from my front door, I still travel 45 miles to another!Joined the BMWX5 45e group
