[For Sale] 2006 MINI Cooper S Checkmate Edition - Supercharged + LSD

Listing this here to gauge if there's any interest... I'm not desperate to sell but I've got another supercharged toy on order through work so struggling to justify keeping this as a third car (which doesn't get enjoyed as much as it should!).

Quite fond of the car so not keen on any cheeky offers, if there's no interest I'll keep it and try to use it more Smile

*****

Immaculate 2006 MINI Cooper S – rare Checkmate Edition
79,914 miles* (*daily use)
Full Service History
MOT to Nov-18
Private number plate not included - will be removed before sale (will go back on 06 plates)
£3,199

*****

One of only 600 in the UK, this exclusive Checkmate edition R53 Mini Cooper S is one of the last supercharged variants of the Mini Cooper S.

In addition to the usual Cooper S spec, the flagship Checkmate comes with unique Space Blue metallic paint, contrast silver roof and wing mirrors, bonnet racing stripes, Checkmate graphics and tread plates and upgraded 17” ‘flame spoke’ alloys. On the inside it has matching Space Blue painted interior trim, anthracite headlining, two-tone blue part-leather seats and a matching leather sports steering wheel. Under the skin the Checkmate edition comes with a Limited Slip Differential to help put its supercharged 170bhp on to the road, xenon headlamps, tyre pressure monitoring system, fog lights and various other extras thrown in.

A low mileage example with only 79,914 on the clock at twelve years old. This car has been beautifully well maintained with a full service history and frequent oil changes at regular intervals to keep that gem of an engine running perfectly. I’ve got a pile of receipts and paperwork to go with it.

Full Service History:

11,306 mls (Main Dealer)
25,756 mls (BMW Dealer)
39,721 mls (BMW Dealer)
48,795 mls (Main Dealer)
52,646 mls (Independent Specialist)
72,018 mls (Independent Specialist)
78,213 mls (Independent Specialist)

Other recent maintenance includes:

New brake discs all round (Dec 2017)
New brake pads all round (Dec 2017)
4x new Kumho 205/45R17 tyres (Feb 2018 – only covered 2k miles)
Comprehensive service at 78k miles (oil, filters, spark plugs – all genuine BMW parts)
Replacement fuel pump (May 2018 – common fault on R53s)
New Milltek Cat-back exhaust

The condition is excellent and it’s clearly been very well cared for during its life, with no dings, scratches or scrapes on the bodywork. There is no rust anywhere on the car whatsoever. The alloys are practically ‘as new’ having been refurbished last year. I’ve been so keen to keep it immaculate that I even just replaced the MINI bodywork badges as they were starting to fade.

The honest bits: the rear wiper motor could do with replacing (common fault - it works but it’s intermittent and sometimes sticks momentarily after clearing the window). The air con doesn’t blow very cold, suspect it’s never been re-gassed. There are a couple of very minor stone chips on the front bumper but the previous owner did a good job touching them up.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Gareth, the Disco Sport goes back next month and I'm getting an F-PACE S V6 which is a lot of fun. The last of the superchargers on that too as we've discontinued it in the UK at 19MY.

Hi Dave,

I've moved down to Warwickshire now. I'm up in Scotland fairly frequently so could probably move it at some point if they were serious.

Thanks,
Chris

Cracking motor Chris ...... that certainly won't hang about for long. 8)
If I needed one, I'd buy it myself. Thumbs Up
(but got a bit too many 'sets of wheels' down the drive & in the garage Neutral )
...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Dave - thanks, any questions let me know.

Gareth - no, it's a decent seller on F-Type. Not much demand for it on F-Pace in the UK which is a shame as it's quite an unusually brilliant combination!

Ron - thanks! What wheels are you sporting these days? Any idea where your nicely modded D3 ended up in the world?

Still available, posted on Pistonheads now as my new car arrives in a few weeks.

It's back on its original plates now (06 reg) and new V5 here and ready.

Hi Chris
Is there much wear on the driver’s seat bolster? Any chance of a photo?
Thanks

I've just returned the same model and switched to an RRS V8d.

The F-Pace needs a few miles under it's belt to loosen it up (so that'll coincide with when yours goes back Laughing ). The 'howl' definitely improves with age Thumbs Up

I was slightly underwhelmed with the sound when I first got it and felt it needed the activated exhausts the F-TYPE gets but it did improve. Drive it without the parcel tray and the rear seats folded down and it sounds pretty good, as I found out when using it in 'removal van' mode Wink

Mine came into it's fore at about 9k (had 14k on return)
