Well the bits arrived, day late, AF were awesome and despite me only placing the order with 15mins to spare before Parcel Force turned up to collect it was Parcel Force that messed up. Had an agency driver on yesterday and he ended up taking it back to the depot
But they turned up today, only problem is now I can't fit them till the weekend, had to drive to Carmarthen today which is why I wanted to do it last night

So yesterday was the big day, started off with the fronts, nothing really challenging and all done and dusted with minimal fuss. Then onto the rears, was a little aprehensive as 1 of the locking wheel nuts did not look good. Did the passenger side (big thanks to Bodsy for the brake bible, have worked on similiar setups with manual handbrake of a similar design but EPB is new to me) and again all good.
Then its time for the OSR. I wasn't disappointed, the locking wheel nut turned out to be a complete Ended up having to drill out the nut an stud to free off some of the tension and then cold chisel to get it undone, no biggie, just buy another wheel stud and swap it out, simples or so I thought, yes drilling the nut/stud was easy but its the stud that now gonna be a PITA
So I left the OSR until a new stud was here rather than strip the rear brake twice. Then after a little reserch it turns out it is not that straightforward but then is it ever on a Land Rover
Again, this forum seems to have all the info you need if you search for it, yes you can replace the wheel stud and they are the same as P38 and D2 however on the rear hub you have to remove it from the car and press out the hub to replace the stud

Catching up on jobs done
Stripped the OSR hub to replace the stud, as expected the wheel bearing came apart to fitted new one. Luckily I have a press, yes its a cheap chinese one (£75) but it did the job. Used a machinist jacks against the backplate where it rests against the knuckle so no backplate damage
Knocked up some bits to press the bearing out and new one in

Then replaced the front steering arms as there was some play in mine, centralised the arms and tracked it. Steering wheel was slightly out following this so took it off and put it back on straight then reset the steering angle sensor

The it was time for an auto box oil change. Had looked at various posts on here where the old fluid was pumped out by disconnecting the oil cooler, did attempt this but didn't have any pipe the right sixe to extend the hoses so just dropped it out via the sump drain plug.
Fittted a new metal sump and filter, again from Advanced Factors
Didn't fancy pumping 5L of oil in using one of them syringe things so chopped the end off an old garden sprayer thingy and used this to fill the box.
Took it for a drive and then dropped out the oil and refilled again with fresh.

Been fancying late D4 rear lights for a while, picked these up off eBay, bought some 50W power resistors and then fitted them
Think it needs the rear windows tinted so booked it in at Newport AutoTint and really pleased with the outcome, also took the opportunity to debadge the rear, was going to replace them with matt black lettering but liking the clean look

It has had a replacement bonnet at some point and the replcement lettering wasn't level, bought some matt blak lettering from PowerfulUK and replaced. I do wish I had bought their adhesive removal tool thingy as getting the old sticky stuff off was a complete PITA, template was a big help

And there's more
Front top arms and drop links, bought the replacements off Advanced Factors a while ago, MOT was due soon and while the old ones would have passed I needed to do the CV gaiter so changed them while at it
Following the front arm swap the car was not sitting level, OSF was low and NSR was high. Looks like the pin that the height sensor attaches to on the OSF arm was bent upwards. bit of tweaking with a long bar got it closer and final tweak with IID tool got it sorted.
So the manual says measure from the centre of the hub and I did watch a YouTube vid from Atlantic British where they had cut a slot in the centre cap for the dumb end of the tape measure,,,Why??
I measured the dia of the centre cap (64mm), divided it by 2 (32mm) then added this to the factory measurement and then just measured from the bottom of the centre cap, simples

Another MOT job, exhaust downpipe flexi had been bodged by the previous owner so fitted the SS I purchased off a fellow Disco3.com member
Was downpipe was super tight into the centre section so knocked up an exhaust pipe expander from a slug of aluminium billet I had kicking about
Wacked it in with a BFH and then inserted the downpipe

I forgot something, all of the above was carried out over the last few weeks but there is one unpleasant job I had to do back the begining of September.
Went to my lockup to pickup my engine crane and lifting gear as I was off to pickup a lathe, pulled the tailgate switch and the solenoid clicked but tailgate didn't open
Yep, dreaded broken cable. This was about 9:30pm and I was due to leave at 7am the next morning
Managed to get it open thanks to the guides on here and bodge it to get it working, not done a permanent fix it yet but have a cuning plan to repair rather than buy a new one. Need to get the tailstock back together on my lathe and see if my plan will work
You've probably seen plenty of these picks of woe but heres mine
