Could be the battery maybe ? How old is it ? When your old alternator packed up it could have affected the battery. The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

Have you measueed the battery voltage after standing for 24 hours? preferably off of the car, you are wanting high 12.50 to low 12.6 figures, even with good voltage the battery can still be down on power.
As an example truck the other day showing 12.55 and 12.6 on the digi meter, but battery tester came up with 700 amps and the batteries were meant to be 1100 amps.
Many batteries have date stamps on top of the battery posts themselves, might be worth a look see?

After charging you have to let it stand for 24 hrs to get a true reading and even then it might be a lie!
