[For Sale] 2004 Discovery 3 HSE Tonga Green - with Engine Fault
With a heavy heart I've decided that I don't have the time/room/skills to attempt to repair my Disco 3 so I'm going to offer it up for sale as a repair/spares vehicle
It is a very early D3 (Vin 000429) that was part of the original Discovery 3 Press Launch Fleet for Land Rover and subsequently owned by Land Rover Special Vehicles until the end of 2007. It has since been in the ownership of two Land Rover employees who have performed all of the servicing themselves.
As I stated in the title it does have an engine issue It starts and runs but doesn't sound too good. May be turbo? May be valves? May be injectors? Two injectors are running at Max trim and the other four running at Min trim? I've had two specialists have a look at it and both have pointed to injectors as the first things to change.....
As this was a Press vehicle it is FULLY loaded! Here goes...
2.7 TDV6 Auto HSE in Tonga Green (Launch Colour)
Sunroof and rear panoramic
Full 7 seat leather in Tundra trim
Heated, electric 3 memory front seats
Heated rear seats
Sat Nav with Harmon Kardon Logic 7 sound
Heated Front and Rear screens
Front and Rear Parking sensors
Xenon Headlamps with Active Cornering
Climate Control with rare Rear Passenger Independant Aircon/Heating
Cruise control
FBH
Electric Windows x 4
Electric Heated Powerfold Mirrors
Auto Lights
Auto Dip Rear View Mirror
etc etc!!
Currently on 103,500 miles and MOT'd until Jan 2019.
It has had everything its ever needed, it had new front lower wishbones and 4 wheel alignment prior to the last MOT, new air compressor approx 18 months ago, new genuine prop etc
I'm looking for around £2000 for it as it is, I really don't want to start breaking it for spares but I will if I get no interest
I'm based in Solihull, West Midlands. Feel free to drop me a message and pop by for a look if you're interested?
Thanks, Mark 07780 707792

Either hire/borrow a trailer and head down myself, or arrange a transport company to collect it
A few options to explore at the moment
Mike sent you a PM about trailer

Could be way off, but could that not be the issue with crankshaft bearings rotating causing the engine to sound funny?
I’ve got all of 5 minutes worth of experience on discos, so I could be well off the mark here, but pretty sure some have been taking this to LR and have had some success in getting them to pay for a new engine.

Stripping her should make you more than your asking price, and that’s just for the “easy fruit”. And you’ll join The Stripper’s Club.
Strippers club would#ve been a nice place to be
Thanks for all the comments but sorry to say Mike... new owner picked her up today (finally!)
shed a tear as she went down the road, on a bar behind a nice Fuji White D4
Found a nice Freelander 2 HST locally for a great price so stayin with the brand (well I do work there!) so fingers crossed....
