Going Off Road?!?

I'm thinking of taking my disco on one of those Land Rover Events in the north later in the Spring. Would I be risking it using my road wheels and tyres (standard HSE)?

If so, where would be the place to look for some cheap steel wheels and what tyres should I get. Would another size be OK rather than 19".

Any advice please or a pointer to an existing thread if one exists (haven't been able to find one yet!)

any LRE event can be done using standard road tyres as fitted without damage

No steel wheels available (AFAIK), watch out for a cheap set of 17" or 18" alloys if you don't want to risk your 19" wheels.

Shocked actually the on road tyres are very capable offroad but either MTR's, AT2's or Cooper ST's would be suitable if you want to fit an offroad tyre.

Could I also ask would it be a good idea to remove my steps as well, or would I get by with the clearance being raised?

I reckon you'll be fine on standard road tyres. A few of us, including us, off road on the standard stock wheels and have had zero problems.

You should also be okay with the steps unless its some serious off roading you'll be doing.

Thanks again for all the info - unfortunately Mrs Dean isn't impressed and says I have to stay at home and play with my toys - doesn't think new car is intended to visit out of the way places! Anybody got a spare seat??
