How do you register the cable for the release? It looks loose and also seems stuck despite WD40
Not really happy to drive to the dealer with the bonnet only partially locked and certainly would need to take an appointment and wait for a long time for itIt takes all sorts (to make a world).

As you're facing the car from the front, wiggle a flat bladed screwdriver down to the right of the latches, but inside the latch IYSWIM.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Riccardo: The bonnet on my car is the same, never latches on nearside, and I have fixed this by after opening the bonnet, ensure the release handle is fully forward, pull the cable where it curves around behind the nearside headlight and ensure you take up the slack and allow any slack to be at the latch end.
When I do this with my bonnet, I am able to lower it slowly and then push it closed, I never need to slam it anymore.
Works 100% of the time for me.Mods:

Thanks we tried everything today but maybe not exactly as you say.
It happened to me but only on one side a while ago and pushing the release handle fully forward whilst pressing on the bonnet was sufficient
Will try again tomorrow It takes all sorts (to make a world).

The other right!
I find rotating the 'cam' on the right (as you look at your picture) slightly so it moves to the left (as you look at it in the picture) which seems to reset the catch.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

The loop filing works when the loop bottoms out inside the catch.
If yours is the same as mine, the cable doesn't quite fully return to it's ready position which, ever so slightly, allows the latches to remain partially released. On mine, this is enough to allow the bonnet to not latch on the nearside and taking out the slack in the cable resolves the issue. Mods:

Also check that the rubber bump stops on the bonnet haven't wound themselves down. I slammed the bonnet for years before realising that they adjust by turning them!

Have you tried pushing the cable behind the nearside headlight back towards the locks?Mods:

I had a similar issue with mine. I found that the mechanism needs modifying to allow the latch to shut on the 'hoop'
Filing the back of the 'Pawl' allows the latch to lock earlier. I put a slight taper on the surface, works a treat.Richard
