Cabin recirculation mode effective?
Wondered what the experience of the re-circ mode for cabin air is. I've run through smoke a couple of times recently and used it. It seems pretty ineffective compared to other cars I've had. I can smell the smoke quite strongly. In other cars, and in my little Fiat 500, it seems to filter out most of the fumes. Is this something I can improve? Have I got a leak in my door seals ? Pollen filter issue?
It's going in for a few warranty items in May as coming up to 3 yrs old so wondered if I should mention it? Any input/advice much appreciated.

mine is exactly the same. I drive past a landfill fairly regularly and I'd get less smell in the cabin by opening all the windows

On a D3 I’d say the opposite, if I turn on the recycle button before I reach the smell or if I see smoke ahead then the smell doesn’t get into the car.

Works fine on our MY11 - the wife has COPD so use it a lot when in traffic - remember it is recycle so if the smell is already in the car it isn't going to clear it.LR Discovery 4 XS pulling an Airstream 532 Caravan also own (since new) a 1996 MGF

works perfectly in my D3!!!
...I usually cross near the area of influence of a paper mill, it has been emitting a strong smell of.... "cabbage" .... for years and without any visible smoke, so I do not know very well when to turn on the system of recirculation mode , therefore I do it officially a kilometer before and never the horible smell comes, which it does in other cars that I also drive in which I am forced to open the windows after crossing so that the smell comes out of the car's interior, something that never happens on the Disco. lost in translation!
