Which wheel nuts do I need?

Bought a 2007 Disco3 a couple of weeks ago. The previous owner had replaced the wheels with 20" ones, but included the 'original' 18" ones as part of the sale.

I've just had some Grabber AT3's put on the 18" wheels, but when the tyre place came to refit the
wheels, they said that the wheel nuts from the 20" wheels didn't fit. They've advised me to go to a LR dealership to get a set of the correct nuts.

Before I go and make a fool of myself, can someone tell me if these wheels are original LR ones, and any suggestions on which variant of wheel nut I require?

The tyre place found a nut in the spares box which they say is the right size:

Thanks in advance!

Simon

Okay, that's annoying Sad

So am I likely to be able to get suitable wheel nuts from a LR dealer, or should I be looking elsewhere?

Be careful with those wheels if they are not LR wheels. The load rating on Discovery 3/4 wheels is very important. IIRC the standard wheels are rated at 960KG (or 940?)

Welcome Slimey

Beware if you fit non-standard wheels you also need to advise your insurers.

Where did you buy the car? You may be able to ask the vendor to fit compliant wheels, if those fitted are not suitable, but it may be a struggle.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Car was a private purchase, so no chance to go back and ask for different wheels Smile

No - the seller just assured me that they were the wheels he took off when he put the 20" replacements on.

Tyre place said they fitted fine, just that I needed different wheel nuts due to different collar size.[/quote]

It just looks wrong, D3/RRS/FFRR rims are a lot flatter faced than that. Confused

As it was a private sale "Caveat Emptor" - "let the buyer beware" applies

But if the vendor deliberately lied or misled you then you may have a remedy.

for what it's worth … I reckon they could look nice on. seen worse for sure.

if you can find their rating and they are suitable, keep 'em.
