Altox WBUS 5 on D3 with no sim

Need to get started in the morning. Altox arrived today, snow is falling so have made up all the wires connected into Fbh. Run the wire external into the car (temporarily). Altox in the car, on an auxiliary battery. Embarassed
Now my question. I have no sim, can I just use the button?
Or do I need a sim in to start?
Any help appreciated.. Thumbs Up

Nope, you need to set it up with a sim initially, then you can use a button to trigger it Thumbs Up

Hi Greg

It will be able to fire up just with button, but only after it is set up with a sim

This is the only Wbus controller, that can work several protocols in one, so at first ring/message etc, it automatically sets itself up to right protocol..

Surely you have signal for at least one of the Networks? Just pop to supermarket and buy a PAYG sim?

Outs of interest on a D3/4 WITHOUT Altox or similar fitted what signal/wire does the engine send to FBH to start when turning the key below 6c. I just wondered if it was possible to trick the car into thinking the engine had been started by adding power to that wire/circuit for emergency use only? Idea

If I put my pay monthly O2 sim in, and send a text from my work phone... What text do I need to send?

You need to download the ALTOX app and set to the new sim card number than activate the FBH via the APP/Internet rather than text. Easier than text IMHO.

I don't really know but I assume it on the Altox (and/or documentation) unit. I had mine fitted for me!

You can request ID by sending the SMS/Text command SETTINGS2 to your SIM number (Google is your friend)

The APP is great for watching the coolant temp rise and checking the flame sensor is active. It's also great as a tracker and every drive you make (or your wife Whistle ) going forward is recorded and accessible on a google maps style interface.
