Genuine After Market Telephone Kit |
|
Hello,
I'm thinking of installing the Genuine Aftermarket Bluetooth PTI kit over the Christmas hols.
Can anyone that's done this, or had it done by a dealer please confirm that once it's installed, I will be able to use the numeric radio buttons to dial numbers? I'd heard that it would be possible, but this article:
http://www.landrover.co.uk/gb/en/_popups/b...lockLink_4
...seems to suggest that console dialing is only supported by the factory fitted bluetooth as opposed to the genuine aftermarket accessory one.
Aside from the plug in the centre arm rest, roof aerial etc what are the other differences between the factory fit and the genuine aftermarket accessory kit please?
I'm not so much asking about the compatibility of my phone, rather that the functionality exists if I do have the correct phone. (I've got a Nokia E61i (but could use a different phone just for the car), and a 06MY SE)
Thanks,
John

I had that kit in my previous D3, must admit I didn't try to dial using the radio buttons so not sure if it works or not, voice dialling works a treat though so there's no real need for using the buttons The End

Great - thanks for that - that's useful. Does the incoming call number display on the radio?

Aftermarket lr kit will only give you voice dialing ...
The keypad on the stereo does not work for dialing , and the numbers you dial or recieve do not show up on the display.
I have fitted 2 off these kits and are a bit fiddly as you have to remove the aircon plastic ducts from behind the stereo , heater controls and switches ...
Some pics of whats involved here http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=1536
I never removed the steering wheel ..insted i realeased the airbag and let it sit on top of the steering wheel cowling ..i then cut out the section for the additional switches ..
Hope this helps G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Thanks very much - and for the link to the pictures.
Is there any possible (genuine) aftermarket option that will let me dial using the numbers on the screen and view the number of the person calling?
Thanks,

Unfortunatly not .. you need the factory fit option for those to work.
The only thing that happends with the aftermarket kit is that is says "phone " on the stereo when you are in a call ..
I have fitted one to a 56 plate and a 57 plate ..and they both work the same .. G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

OK - thanks very much.
I fitted a Parrot kit to my D2 - wasn't keen on having the extra screen on my D3. My Nokia will speak the name of the person calling which worked with my Parrot - hopefully this will work with the D3.
Shame not to have the extra functionality, but I think the Genuine kit is a more elegant solution than the Parrot (IMHO )
Will post back how I get on if I decide to go with it.
Thanks,
