Tip Over Angles

My sankey camper is fairly tall. Tent is approx 5ft above ground level. Tent and frame is approx 80kg. Trailer itself is sankey with a tub on top of a tub...... if that makes sense. Other than tent all weight is below level of bottom tub which I suspect amounts to maybe 50-80kg.

Without destructive testing i.e.intentionally tipping it. Does anyone know a simple way without complicated math to figure out what the tip over angle of it might be???

Work out length of rope/strap needed to hold it tied off to rear of your vehicle (trailer at 90°)

Place Jack under trailer

Crank it until it looks like it might fall over. Tighten rope from step 1

Crank some more, etc.

Sounds like one for Iggy he has experience of tipping them over when he is in them. I so wish he had CCTV in his garage when he got to put the legs down and his first attempt at welding failed on his roof tent conversion. He tells it so much better you have to read it. I can't remember the title but sure someone will Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Bow down

Somebody on here (I can't remember who Whistle ) needs to tell you one day about his first Welding attempt on his frame..........Got it looking good, bolted it to the trailer, placed roof tent on top of frame as he was a little excited, wheeled trailer out of garage, opened out the roof tent......climed up the ladder into the roof tent..... Shocked Trailer began to tip (Somebody had forgotten to put the trailer legs down)......twinging noises could then be heard as all of his welds snapped under the force....trailer tipped completely up into the air,......tent by now no longer had a frame to sit on.....I was...I mean this person was still in tent.....tent and this person fell 6 feet to the floor.......person climbed out of tent to see frame lying in pieces around him and trailer now 20 feet along the drive Shocked

No idea who is was mind Rolling Eyes Whistle Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

So important lesson, make sure you melt the weld into the steel...not as I, I mean this person originally did on his first frame......my current frame is super welded Whistle Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Hahahaha I've actually read that trailer thread of yours. Imagining you folded up inside your tent did make me chuckle Laughing

I suppose I could find top middle of trailer at rear and hang a plum line. Then jack up one side. When bottom of plum line gets close to bottom of tyre on opposite side best stop before it goes all the way and hey presto I have my tip over angle.

That would work wouldn't it???

I got a LR experience for Xmas at Eastnor. Maybe they'll let me hitch trailer up to a shinny new D5 for testing Laughing
