Help on immobiliser issue |
|
Hi,
Hope someone can help.
I bought a disco that had spun shells so was not running, I stripped and rebuilt the engine, put it back in but ive come up against a wall on the electrickery.
For some reason the alarm fob buttons do not operate the central locking or alarm and immobiliser does not deactivate meaning it wont turn over. I have manually bypassed the starter relay and it turns over.
I though it could be the key so I sent it to autotronics for repair but it still would turn the car over.
I have a fault reader which gave this,
Engine ECU:
U0073 – control module can bus off
Body control module:
B1b02 - Low frequency coil
B1b04 - Transpoder key 2
B1c57 - Passive start ignition coil circuit
Transfer case control module:
U0132 - lost communication with ride level control module
Vehicle dynamics control module:
U0421 - Invalide data received from ride level control module
ABS:
U0421 – Invalid data/revieved from ride height control module
I think the only problem is the can bus one but i cant trace what is causing it. Ive checked and cleaned all the connectors in the lower a posts and connections to the engine ecu and transfer case ecu but still no joy.
The electrics must have been working for the engine to do so much damage to its self so I dont understand what is causing the problem.
Does anyone have any ideas as im getting to the point where ill have to tow it to a dealer

So when you sent the key away it improved things ?
Never seen that key2 code before. I would research that. Do it come back?
The key charges when in the ignition

I find it strange that the engine ecu is saying that the canbus is off when it must be working as its talking over canbus!
Im wondering if its in some sort of storage mode or something?

how apart was the disco when you bought it ???
Did you take the body off ??? /
check body to chassis plugs behind rear wheel on top of chassis pass side tight to close..
Have you had cjb from behind glove box out as u can lock the connector plugs when not in and be loose

It looked in perfect condition just with a siezed enging, I took the engine out without removing the body so in theory everything in side the cab should be ok as it would have had to be to have the engine running when it broke.
Ill check the body to chassis connections tomorrow anyway. Ive had the BCM connectors in and out already.

Ive found this in the workshop manual.
'Bus off' DTCs
The references to bus and its condition refer to the network concerned and the modules on that network.
If a module logs a 'Bus Off' DTC, it means that the module has detected CAN transmission errors and has disabled its's own CAN transmissions and disconnected itself from the network in an attempt to allow the rest of the network to function. At this point the 'Bus Off' DTC is set. A common cause of 'Bus Off' DTCs can be a short circuit in the CAN network.

Also this.
Control Module Communication BUS A Off
Bus off. The CJB has detected the data bus is not available
CAN bus open circuit
CAN bus short circuit to ground
CAN bus short circuit to power
CJB module, connector damage, cavity pin damage
Refer to the electrical guides, check CAN circuit for open circuit, short to ground, short to power, repair/renew as necessary. Check the CJB for damage to the connector cavity pins, replace CJB as necessary.

I would think the 400A fuse is fine

so after a lot of checking the can bus connectors and resistance at all points i have come to the conclusion that the can bus network is ok. Resistance seems to be around 60ohms at each connector and module.
I thought id check what a working discovery key does (friends disco) and the flashing immobiliser light goes solid red then stops flashing as soon as the ignition on position is selected so im wondering if the car has forgotten the key or the key has forgotten the car.
Ive only got a carsoft obd tool so cant check or program that kind of stuff.
If I order a new key from LR what device would I need to program it or is this a dealer only job (assuming the current key is a dud)?
Ive attached to the gallery the canbus network if anyone else needs it.

an IID can program them £400
trouble is you need a working key for that, so not much help
have you left the key in the ignition for 1 hour to ensure its charged ?
Then remove it and see if the lock/unlock works with the doors closed

Not sure you do need a working key with a D3...
Anyway, new key needs paired before it will allow a start condition.
Buttons on the key do not need to work, the transponder in the key is "seen" by the BCM (which Is paired to the PCM) and decides whether the code is correct and allows a start
