If the link works this should show what at least one team of reviewers think of the L462 with the 2.0 Ingenium engine.

Enjoy. LeighW

Wow, 150 litre fuel tank in the Prado. They've certainly designed it for the outback.

I confess I didn’t read the article yet but it is most likely fitted with an auxiliary tank either at the factory or by the distributor. When I lived on the Arabian peninsula (KSA) most real SUVs (Nissan Patrol, Toyota Landcruiser Prado and the big brother LC, etc.) were fitted with an extra tank simply for convenience and because their chronic thirst. Some were fully automatic and some required turning on a pump.

The trailer/roof tent combo is rather nice!
The RRS shown in the budget buy video is "Black Betty" which belongs/belonged to a RRSport forum member. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

The Patrol's, LC's and 4.0 Jeeps (all petrol) had to have the long range fuel tanks simply because we were on the edge of the Rab-Al-Khali (The Empty Quarter) and it was a 500+ mile return journey with no fuel stops on route (in fact nothing but desert). I don't remember having to turn on supplementary tanks at any stage.

Thanks for the link - very interesting
Starting from the unbiased view of not wanting to buy any of them, I can’t understand how they split the Disco and the Land Cruiser / Prado. They put the Jeep at the back of the pack for “lack of local tuning” and them came up with a not dissimilar issue with the Disco and completely overlooked it
In its favour and in this company, the Disco is the least ugly of an outstandingly ugly bunch, while the Prado is head and shoulders uglier than the rest (in only the way that, up until about 1986, only the Japanese knew how), but it seems uniquely well adapted to local needs: from long fuel range (even if it’s optional) to crude, but robust, engineering, reliability, availability of parts and local mechanics and an extensive range of suitable off road extras, I can’t see how the substantially more expensive Disco, with a more highly stressed and locally unproven 2 litre engine ever toppled it 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4

Another one to check out. This time no article but if you go right through the e-mag you will see a video of an L462 towing a caravan that is manufactured near Brisbane Australia. Nice countryside forms the backdrop.

PS - if anyone gives up I will point out the specific place in the e-mag to see the white Discovery doing what it does best. Don't forget about the time difference - I may be resting LeighW

I know this will come as a shock to many who hate the D5 for not being a D4, but it won because, on balance, it's the best of the bunch. Better on the road, better off road. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

I was interested in their reasons for choosing it and they don’t seemed to have explained them properly. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

The reasoning seemed to be that it was the best on road and the best (or equal best as they all managed to get through ok) off road. They mentioned the possibility of LR reliability issues, of course, and the possibility that the suspension had a problem on corrugations but that it might be a one off.
In summary, on balance, they decided it was the best of the bunch because it was the best on road and the best off road. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk
