Thetford Forest Greenlanes |
|
Hi all,
anyone done the greenlanes around Thetford Forest / Culford / Elevedon? Several on the OS Maps app, I'm thinking of having a run around them sometime soon if anyone can give me any info before hand it'd be useful. Cheers in advance, Goodyear Duratracs for off road

Hello.
I've done most, if not all of the lanes around that area. They're all nice and easy to drive. No real muddy bits as such as the underlying ground drains well. Although some can get a bit scratchy, so worth taking lopers etc if you care about your paint.
One or two have TRO's so worth checking and some have seasonal closures.
Hope that's of some help.

Hi Pip,
thanks for that. Are the TROs / seasonal closures posted on the routes? Or where would i find out about them? Suffolk / Norfolk County Council or local council websites? Cheers, Goodyear Duratracs for off road

Yep, on the relative council site. Search for definitive map
As above most routes are fine, bottom end of icknield can get a bit muddy
Don’t be tempted to go off piste, some already have in places and it gets us all’s bad name Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

Hi.
I'm local to here and would be happy to show anyone around. I also have marked maps if anyone wants to meet and copy for self-navigation. Been laning in a D1 for years, always follow good practice, but it's taking a while to learn how some lanes I don't worry about might actually be a bit difficult in my tidy D4.
As mentioned the local council sites have a good PROW map, as does GLASS but I'm as guilty as most for not updating Trailwise following each trip.
For anyone who wants to use their off-road prepped vehicle in anger I also run recovery for a fully licenced enthusiasts rally each December, overnight in Thetford using private land and PROW.
Cheers, Danny

Hi DiscoDan15,
I'd be more than happy to take you up on your offer of a guided run around one weekend, I'm only about 50 minutes away so pretty easy to get over there. I'm not too worried about the ground conditions, but I'm seriously allergic to bramble rash on my paintwork!
Let me know when would be good for you buddy and we can go from there. Goodyear Duratracs for off road

I did a few lanes New years eve, one or two were quite wet and looked to be getting a bit cut up.
And I'd be up for a meet and a drive around. More to say hello and meet a few fellow owners.

Hi. Sorry about the delay.
I'm looking at Sat 26th Jan to get out in Thetford if that's any good? I know a couple of over cars that want to come too.
Cheers, Danny
