quote]plenty of D3 members this side , would've helped you out
Discowex, did not see one ( in Mt Merrion ) but my friends there stopped a couple of land rover drivers who happily did all they could - I thought it was great , complete strangers helping out.

No , you won't see that many there John ( more RRS & FFR, X5 type of area)
I haven't ( with the exception of pre arranged meets) seen a single solitary Disco3 sticker since I joined.

I'll send you a pm because its a sensitive issue.
WillMyth is right with his link, it got me thinking.
On a general note. Is it better to broadcast how things are stolen and so owners know and can take pracutions.....
or is better to keep quite......
chicken or egg...

Mathematically, the thieves are cleverer than us - There are fewer of them (I bl dy hope) and they have some pretty bright schemers amongst them - whereas we, by definition are averagely of average intelligence, with the average further reduced a little by the unfortunate less intelligent folk being in our group (i.e. non-thieves) rather than their group (i.e. thieves). (Barring a few d kheads of course)
SO whatever wheeze we come up with (fivers under the bed, cash in the fridge, door-key under a rock in the garden) or boob we make (car keys on hall table, reachable through letter-box) THEY are two steps ahead of us and can pass the info quicker than an internet forum without the use of technology (pub-to-pub, or INNternet?).
And IMHO publicising anti-theft systems will help the potential victim population MORE than it will inform the low-lifes.
And with a bit of luck, fear of the whackier ones might frighten 'em a bit. My favourites are:-
1. 12" long 2" diameter spike which comes up through the centre of the driver's seat
2. Adhesive silver conductive tape on steering wheel and gear knob, connected to 240v AC or trembler coil (to taste).
3. Snakes in footwell.
4. Microprocessor controlled central deadlocks and anaesthetic gas supply into face level vents.
5. Tyre valves that let the tyres down if vehicle speed reaches say 15mph
6. Fuel pump interrupt after 2-3 minutes
7. Ankle guillotine triggered by touching pedals
etc etc
8. Sign on car "Member of Insane Revenge Car Protection Club"
9. Sign on car "SSSsshhhh! Rottweiller sleeping under rug - sadly HIV-AIDS has made him sleepy and angry. Please do not disturb."
10. Invert the steering rack.
Further suggestions welcomed

Cash in the fridge, will try it.
You're right me finks, share the info like they do. Without WillMyth I would be a victim waiting to get a puncture to find out the spares gone.
Does this site/moderators have a policy on this?

So long as nobody publicises any security flaws in the D3 specifically that could put members vehicles at risk. Questions like "I've lost my key, is there a way to get in without a tin opener?" would not be allowed because it could be a scumbag asking the question.
