Been flashed 3 or 4 times in France in the D3, nothing ever came of it. Also once in Germany. Beware of what looks like an abandoned trailer on the hard shoulder of the Autobahn. It's not so abandoned when you catch the red flash in your rear mirror as you think "who'd leave a trailer there?".

I was flashed on the Millau bridge 2 years ago and a letter arrived telling me that i would receive a fine but they could not detect my speed due to a fault.
i'm assuming it was because at 6am in the morning i was hammering over the bridge at full tilt in a DB9 to get to my mothers house who i was sure was having a stroke and she refused to call an ambulance.
Maybe the myth is true that you can go to fast for the camera to work. Ive never tried it again!2006 tdv6 s Cairns blue

ISTR Top Gear did a test on a fixed speed camera and it didn't work at something like 170mph.

I would deffo get a nose bleed at that speed. Fastest I've done is 125mph in a 1995 518i estate, and it was actually in Germany.

thats very harsh,
i have to say ive been flashed a few time over the years in france fortunately with no comeback,
most frustratingly once when speeding up on a slip road to merge in with traffic as french tend not to mover over or let you in

I thought no fines were issued to UK licence holders but got one today - fixed camera me doing 94kmph in an 80 zone on the 19/2 - knocked 5kph off for variation so i was done for doing 89kph. 45 euro if I cough early. Ironically practically all the speed cams that waze prompted were knackered/cover in gilet jaune wrap. So there you go. Is there any reciprocity with regards to French /Dutch/german registered cars getting caught in the UK?
Do they receive fines etc?
I'm guessing not, but you never know.

Err, no.
Even if a foreigner on holiday gets caught at a really excessive speed, you know well into 3 figures, the Police can cite them to appear the next lawful day of a court, but they can’t compel them to attend nor take thier passports off them, so it’s a purely voluntary thing.
Of course, who’s going to turn up to get banned and fined particularly if there’s no consequences? That’s why you see foreigners belting about the place without a care in the world.
Totally different matter if a Brit gets caught abroad. We need to change our laws.
