Nice.... welcome to the forum
Was it armored at the factory or is it some kind of aftermarket thing? B6 I assume?

@kajtzu: I had a pretty concerning issue with the throttle. When I was driving very slowly almost to a stop the car reved up and accelerated by itself. I had to push the brakes really hard to come to a halt. That kind of scared me about 3 times. It must be a transmission or throttle issue so I decided to clean it. It wasn‘t that dirty as I saw on some youtube clips but the issue went away for a year untill last month.
I‘ll give another cleanup very soon and we‘ll see where it goes.

This is very interesting since mine were really clean and I haven't bothered looking at them since...

Got one! Purchased through that well-known auction site and collected last week.
Not sure whether this one was previously known to the forum (no sticker). Currently on its original registration which was BF06... Soon to be changed.

Sorted! Cleaned throttle body and MAF sensor and no more idle pulsing. It seemed that a large build up of gunk in throttle body was preventing the airflow at idle. I actually took no photographs, which I know is is very helpful but my throttle body looked exactly like this video I will have a good 100mile drive tomorrow to give it at test.

Sorry! If it's any consolation (probably not) I've got my first engine management light already. Travelling this week, so first visit to nearest Indy garage scheduled for the week after Easter.02 Mercedes ML270 w163 (gone - and better forgotten)

Steve,
From my recent experience clean the maf, and look to see if the throttle body is gunked up as these
are very easy to do (I just watched videos like that I posted). The throttle body on mine was sufficiently dirty to affect the air flow at low revs, and my maf was very dirty. I have seen a marked improvement in throttle response at low speeds and fuel consumption, albeit on the onboard computer.
