Discovery 3 08
Looked at a late 08 D3 HSE first one I have driven. Currently have a D2 which main use is towing the performance difference was impressive has 110k on told belts would be done on test drive grinding noise checked pads garage selling said it would be sorted. I would appreciate any advice it was just under £11k on eBay item no eBay Item No. 253178130392
Thanks
Steve

If the timing belts are being done make sure they replace the oil pump as well. Dont take it otherwise as the old pump casing will likely fail after the new timing belt resulting in engine failure.

I did mention about if oil pump a problem forgot what the reply was but not actually done the deal. So when I next speak to him will add it to my list of wants to seal the deal. Glad took them time to ask rather than get my fingers burnt.

sounds a bit steep? Have you looked at the ones for sale on here - I would prefer to buy from a forum enthusiast (and I did!) rather than a random ebay seller.....Not such a Disco Newbie now!

Agree with above, £11k is a bit steep, but then it is a dealer. Will always be more pricey than private.Richard

Pay a little more and get a D4 , I owned my 57 plate D3 for 7.5 years and loved it but the D4 is a massive step up

Sounds like I need to try a D4 then see for myself difference. Is oil pump an issue on them as well?

I’ve not heard of my with the D4 but my D3 was sold with 160,000 on the clock and was still a dream to drive so I am hoping the D4 will be as good, I am sure there will be members with a lot of knowledge who will help you with your choice good luck

Starting to think about if an early D4 might be a better option?
