We've had loads of monster ones in our house recently. I don't particularly like their presence but being the only bloke in the house have to remove them. The daughters have been brave enough to chuck a glass over it then call me. The other night they spotted a whopper making its way along the landing so a small glass was placed over it whilst screaming and no word of a lie the spider picked the glass up and carried on walking down the landing like a fecking hermit crab with a new house!

I never realised I'd been conversing with such a load of whoosies on here, man up you soft b*****ds.

On the other hand, anybody north of Birmingham has no excuse, those south of Birmingham are allowed to maintain their reputations. Mr. Green

Get some conkers and place them around the house at strategic points. Apparently they don't like the smell of them. Now I don't know if this has been proven scientifically but I collected some at the weekend and haven't seen any 8 legged freaks since.

Not too sure about having a load of conkers in my undies, even with the spikey shells off Shocked

The ones you mostly see this time of year are the male House Spiders looking for some action as the females (who stay mostly hidden) put out pheromones

That's worrying if my manly bits smell like spider f@nny!!!! Embarassed

remembering when I lived around Christchurch ... 33 years ago ! ... they were talking then about spiders getting HUGE because of less harsh winters.

can easily believe the "hermit crab" story ... woke up to one that was moving behind a poster on my wall. the sound was bad enough but when I put the light on and saw a lump moving about it was a bit worrying. (paraphrasing)

However, being made of proper Northern stuff I carefully moved poster aside to avoid damage then pulped the spider.

I've got one or two that live in my vehicle.
I never kill a spider, just move them somewhere else while my wife isn't looking.

Many years ago, I was doing a late shift at the police, when at about 10pm SWMBO called demanding that I come home and sort out a huge Spider in the lounge, luckily my oppo and I were only 5 mins away, so I made it back and found SWMBO and no1 son stood on the sofa screaming.

In the middle on the carpet was Mr Spider, huge bloody thing, even I had to think twice before scooping it up and depositing it outside

Not sure what neighbours thought with a police car pulling up outside with blue lights flashing Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Note:
Please don't make any comments on wasting public funds Thumbs Up Laughing
Lol, I know someone else who got a call whilst on late shift from the wife about a mouse in the bedroom, responded in similar fashion. In an ARV. Allegedly the fore grip flashlight on an MP5 is pretty handy when searching for rodents under beds and behind cabinets Laughing

I try to just move them on or relocate outside if i can but some may not make it.
Although we get frightened of them, just imagine how they feel about something (in their eyes) the size of Saturn bearing down on them......they're probably having 3 heart attacks in the space of a few seconds Laughing
