EPB amber quickie - FIXED
Read loads of post but haven't quite found a match for my issue.
I'm getting amber EPB when I touch the foot brake (EPB not touched and can be on or off) A few more (sometimes straight away) goes red with Xmas lights and special programs suspension lowering etc etc.
EPB works fine throughout and foot brake switch replaced less than 12 months back as a precaution.
Battery is good and rear lights are led with resistors - all working.
It's the bit about using the foot brake to trigger that I can't find a previous reference to.
New switch? - really after 12 months?
Check for wire chaffing?
Or something else?
Thanks in advance. Sorry to visit and old topic.

Small update after some more reading
Reverse lights all good.
No water lurking under scuttle.
I'll order a new brake light switch and check the wiring as soon as I can see properly after a small eye op - cant drive anyway

Reading for hours....
On my 2006 which wheel arch should I be looking at for bust EPB wires/connector?
What do I need to remove? Wheel? Liner? is there a flap?
I'm not one to shirk research but there's so many pages on this it's a nightmare. Promise I'll post a guide with pics if I find the problem.

FIXED
So having spent all morning rummaging around the NS wheel arches for broken wiring or wet connectors I finally decided to fit the new brake switch that arrived earlier in the week. SORTED!
I should point out that the old switch was only 11 months in situ which is why I thought something more sinister was a foot.
I've replaced it with a FACET one this time which will hopefully last more than a year!
Here's a pic of the 11 month old one in bits.

Glad it's fixed
Think i had this earlier in the year, at applecross in scotland, not funny having to drive over the Bealach na ba pass at tickover in low range, on the suspension stops. Quite pathetic that a perfictly usable vehicle disables itself because of a contact in a brake switch. changed the switch, but it took a few miles of driving and rolling restarts to cure completely, this is why i say i think i had this problem. did wonder if it was damp some where but been in some heavy rain/puddles since and no problems.
Andi.
