guy salmon Stockport one heck of a place
Hi,
been visiting a few of the main dealers of late and had a run over to here last week
its one heck of a place, looks impressive all the L/R and Jaguar models lined up and the building certainly looks good
Although it may explain why the cars are so much, to pay for the coffee and cake bar
as car sales pitches go its not halve bad,
may be I should have a look around some more of other main dealers to check out what refreshments are on offer Transit! 2019

Hi
the cars are presented very well Moo,
and the sales people seem to know their stuff, but that's as far as I can comment up to now
money has not changed hands yet, but hopefully all the other depts. are as good, fingers crossed they are
I'd steer clear of Guy Salmon, too many horror stories about customer service and back up.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

Never had a problem with Guy Salmon at Knutsford.L633 Defender

I went once when previous D4 dropped it's power-steering fluid on the drive ... sales staff friendly and I'd guess if you have to pay main stealer price it's as good a place as any to go.
service staff were very helpful as I knew that car had been almost exclusively serviced by them and they looked up it's history for me.
used the loo whilst I was there ... the sinks are ridiculously "designer". had to think for a minute before realising it WAS safe to run the taps.

I've been a long time customer of GS Stockport, and my Jag is in there now for its 3 year service.
In the earlier days, I bought my first D3 in Nov 04, they were extremely helpful, and gained a lot of knowledge very quickly with the faults that my car threw at them! However, they were all extremely helpful and I was on first name terms with most of the staff. Yes they were never cheap, but there was always more give than take.
Then they spent millions on their new premises. It is indeed very impressive to be in and look at, and the facilities are first rate, the coffee and cakes are the best, and the whole operation is kept spotlessly clean. You can view the whole Jaguar and Land Rover range in comfort.
However, the one area that has not improved is customer relationship management, especially the returning of calls. I have never got through to speak to the person I wanted first time, and I generally don't get called back very promptly. I get the impression that it's so busy that everyone is running around chasing their tails. I think they are understaffed. I hate the glass wall in the service managers and other offices. When I'm sat in the service reception waiting for someone to see me, there are probably 6 + people sat behind the glass walls staring at computer screens! What are they doing? Surely not looking at this forum!
I now do not know anyone on first name terms, and that speaks volumes about how it's become. Despite been their best customer ( well I think I am, and it's the way they should treat everybody ) I feel like another record in the database now.
I needed some works done on my Disco 4 a few months back. It needed a service, The brakes were bad, and the tailgate wouldn't open. I had no time to do it myself, but the earliest GS would consider looking at it was 6 weeks hence! That is absolutely shocking! Once your car is out of warranty you slide down the priority list. If you have an independent warranty (in my case warranty direct) then you have to get your services done on the nail or risk invalidating the policy. I had to go elsewhere. No choice.
I will be testing them again soon with the Disco, it's got a noisy tappet and its more than likely going to be a very big job. I will give them a chance to get the work, but I'm not going to be messed about.
My Jag is in there now, it's on a service plan and the booking in was very easy, they even kept the car in the dealership for me last week whilst we were on holiday, which is much better for me as its not sat on my drive when I'm not there.
Anyhow, they are good, but I don't think they are as good as they used to be. I will be down there tomorrow to collect my Jag, so will report on the cake and coffee quality.

Is that the one where the cars are in lit up boxes and are visible from the M60 ?The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

It would be useful if they returned phone calls. Rang several times to look at a car to be told somebody will ring you back. Never happened

I wondered why they wanted last weeks Jaguar loan car back by as early as 7.30 tomorrow morning
Agree with poor return calls by telephone but do find replies to emails are within minutes. Being a regular visitor I generally deal with the same service rep (Paul) and there is one mechanic in particular (Francis) who knows the cars inside out.
Shame I can't say the same for sales with the weeks they took to reply to a complaint.

I'm sorry to say that my experience of that particular dealer wasn't good at all.
I went to view my XXV last year and gave them 2 sheets of A4 of things that needed sorting before I'd pay and pick up. "No problem Sir, we'll get that sorted and see you in 10 days time at 8.30 for the handover".
Eventually, having turned up at the agreed 8.30, I left at 2.30pm knowing that I still had to spend money to get the vehicle sorted! As others have said, very impressive premises and nice cakes, but I'll not be letting them anywhere near my Disco ever again.D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

Hi,
glad for a bit more meat on the bones on what the rest of business is like
Think I will be hope full and go for rather than
The contact I have had to date has been good, calls answered quickly and passed directly to the sales guy (another Paul) details I asked were found and again quick reply
the car was presented well and was in their drive through ready for us to inspect.
They must like the glass walls as the sales managers are sat behind one as well
Maybe they would have enough staff if they did not have a Sales man to agree the details, then the sales manager came out to agree the price, then the finance man comes out to make sure the Sales man offered everything
