Paying for software updates from Morrisons LR in Stirling
Evening peeps, thoughts appreciated on the following:
Took Mrs WB's D4 into Morrisons LR in Stirling for its first service since we bought it last year as an Approved LR Vehicle with the extended 3-year warranty, all checks etc. (second hand from Williams LR in Manchester). Reported that the much discussed 'lag' when cold/moving off seemed to be worse than in other D4s I have driven, and asked them to check that all software updates were up to date.
Received a call from service desk later this afternoon to advise that they also thought there was more of a lag than there should be, and that the software was not up to date. For them to bring it up to date would cost me in excess of £120 as it was at least an hours labour.
I tried to argue that presumably the update was because there were deficiencies in the previous versions, but with no joy. They are currently trying to establish the age of the updates in case I need to take it up with the supplying dealership.
Question is - Is it normal for the customer to have to pay for software updates?
My D3 has had a number of updates over its 175k life, all at no cost, and all by same dealer.
Cheers
WB
PS They also tried to get me to agree to over £200 for fitting (ie not the supply) a new set of rear pads when the wheels were already off the car!Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

Quick run up to disco_mikey in sunny Dundee might be a much better option.
