Creaking while Braking

**********UPDATE**********
It sounds like something's loose and clanking when I apply the brakes and the weight shifts to the front of the car.

I've been underneath and grabbed the rods and struts and there doesn't seem to be any movement in them. I am really perplexed.

If no one has any ideas, then a trip to to the techies for me

******************************

It seems that everything is going wrong at the moment Sad

I got front discs and pads replaced last Thursday and then proceeded to taketh car down to Cornwall for the weekend -

I noticed that whenever I was any the final bit of braking before coming to halt that there was a bit of creaking/popping etc.

has anyone got any idea what this might be? Its a bit disconcerting - it doesnt seem to happen at speed - just at the moment when the wagon's about to stop?

Thanks in advance to any gurus who may be able to shed a little light?
