Can't open the car
Hello all, can't get in to my 2004 Disco 3 today! It's been idle for about 5 days and keys won't open, no response from fobs. Removed the passenger door cover and although the key goes in it won't open the door, it's solid. I have opened it this way before but the key will break before it does now. The battery is only a couple of months old. I have had some water ingress in the front passenger footwell lately after heavy rain and although I haven't tracked the source of that down yet it I can't think that is connected. Or is it?! Anyone any ideas how I can get back in to the car?
(before the silly comments about universal key get here).
Dean

Thanks for your suggestion but it's soaked in WD40, what I can get to that is and it still won't budge. I'll leave it a bit longer before I get the jemmy out!

Do you have towing electrics? If the car is electrically dead then it is possible to get volts to it through those, there's a diagram here somewhere showing which pins.
Persevere with the key in the passenger side, it is sometimes hard to turn but its your best option at this moment, and the cheapest Good luck fella.The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

Your passenger side water ingress will have affected the 3 green wire splice ( link below ), this operates the remote unlocking. You must gain access via the passenger door lock so keep at it until it frees off. Failing that, call your auto recovery company and ask them to get into the car without resorting to breaking anything.
Once in, fix the 3 wire splice and you should hopefully be good to go.

Well I have eventually got in via the door lock but not before I'd given up and decided to break the rear quarterlight so I could reach in and open the door! I mention this just in case there's anyone else out there who's as stupid as me! DON'T DO IT, IT STILL WON'T OPEN,
Now got a window to replace as well as the repair.
Very grateful to Narpy for your information regarding the wire repair, thank you. Whilst I'm in there I can hopefully track down the leak too.
Incidentally is it pretty straightforward to remove the headlining, am I likely to break anything? Hang on, of course I am!

Yes we live on he outskirts of a small village a few miles north of Vire. It's a lovely place to be, great way of life, peaceful and safe too. Unfortunately no local D3 knowledge!
