I love my swmbo. As far as I am concerned she is a beautiful woman and I would not trade her in for anything. She's 48 years of age, yeah sure thare are gazzilions of younger models about, but I just kind of know and am comfortable with mine. Despite all here faults. She niggles and moans a bit and costs a damn lot when its her birthday, but have had fond memories so an "upgrade" is out of the question...
So apply that logic to a Land Rover and then apply the same logic to a Rav 4 or a Ford Mondeo...
We all know what we are on this group. All slightly obsessive enthusiasts. We all pass a load if d3's and d4's and we see them on the motorway and we put the foot down a little bit and catch up to them and glance over and its some suit or whatever and you think "might still be a member - he'll flash when he sees my sticker" but they don't,..
I get more waves and flashes off defenders - and only because of my RAI and winch.
So if there were 240,000 sold and 100,000 left or whatever it is, then every day that goes by means that ownership of one these becomes more "elite".
All cars, eventually, become an enthusiasts car, but it does feel like there are more LR enthusiasts than pretty much any other marque.. D3 07 SE - still going strong
D3 07 HSE - gone to car heaven
FL1 - gone to Romania
D3 05 HSE - gone to a divorce diet
D1 V8 manual - gone but not forgotten
RR Classic - gone to car heaven
Jeeps, Lexus, X-trails... Too many to name..

When doing the sums of how many D3s are still on the road, don't forget a lot have taken the ferry to Ireland and are registered here. Probably not thousands but definitely in the hundreds. There are tens of thousands of UK second hand cars registered in Ireland every year. With Sterling so weak that number will increase.
