Towing CCF - does it effect suspension
Have tow bar and electrics on my D4-2010.
Understand you need to change setting in the car when the towbar fitted.
Does this setting change anything on the suspension as well as the obvious (parking sensors and lights etc)
I'm having issues when I'm towing where car feels like I'm on a boat (makes me and the kids feel quiet sick)
Does the enabling of the towing in the CCF alter something on the suspension when my 13 pin connector is connected. All lights seem to work fine.
Any thoughts?Loving my D4 HSE -MY10......!!!!

Might be worth checking the harmonic dampers under the rear bumper are free, that would explain the sea sickness.

Might be worth checking your nose weight as the car will adjust the suspension dependant on load?

And tyre pressures, mines a bit bouncy unless I raise them.

Hi all
I've check the tyre pressures all around etc.
yes I noticed those dampers when under the car - did wonder what they were for until recently - but the boat like ride is only when the caravan attached, but I will check they're swinging freely (so to speak).
nose weight being run at 95Kg as the caravan has nose weight limited to 100KgLoving my D4 HSE -MY10......!!!!

Also depends how much luggage + people (weight) in the back of the car. I run Pirelli all season with max psi of 50 at 47psi with 270kg ball weight and about 40kgs plus kids 90kgs in the back.

We recently drove 8 miles with the caravan in tow before I could pump the tyres up to max load pressure. Huge difference and we were also starting to feel sick beforehand.

^^^ have you checked the max presure rating on the tyre sidewall? I ask as if you have 46PSi at cold, that could be up over 50 when hot. I know my (budget) spare has 49PSi as its max pressure rating.
46 seems awfully high. 41 used to be high enough on my old tyres. I never needed to increase the fronts.

Ops was a typo, should have said 43 rear, which is what the sticker on the door says for full load. Tyre states max is 50.

be carefull as I posted about this in another thread:
I usually increase to 41psi when towing, but after finding that running on 275/45/21's a better ride was gained by running at 39psi (these being cold PSi numbers). I just happened to check the pressures (via the dash) after a couple of hours towing, so hot tyres, and they were are 45psi - so 6PSi up. Didnt realise it was that much of an increase.
so if you are at 43 cold, I think you could be close or over 50 when hot.
