Help buying a LR4!! Was looking for a LR3 but a 4 has come u
Hi,
As per the subject i separately need advice! I have been looking for a LR3 and I thought found the right car - but now a 4 has come up in my price range and o don't know what to do!!!
Do the 3 is a SE spec, fsh with much of it with LR. Belts not changed yet but otherwise immaculate.
The 4 also has full SH and is XS spec, is that the one before HSE? There's a grand on it, the 4 is 2 years newer and 5k less miles.
What do I do? Is the advice always to go with the 4? What is the stuff to look.out for on the 4, I have no idea!!!! It doesn't need the belt but what else??
Any help would be MUCH appreciate.
Thanks.

I would go for the D4 the XS is a similar spec to a D3 SE.

If you buy the D3. You'll be always thinking ' I should've bought the D4'

The D3 should certainly have had the belts changed by now! Not only is there a mileage limit, but also a time (7 years).

Go for the 4. Belts on the 3 should have been changed at least a year ago.

No, fitted after delivery if ordered, then needs enabling. Fair few forum sponsors can do that, pretty straight forward. Tow hitches come up fairly frequently second hand.

Even if it came with oem towing electrics.... it'd be worth checking in case they've been removed.

Tow electrics wiring not standard but not hard to fit
Connects behind n/s light cluster detachable tow bar slots straight in
Is the 4 an early one ? If so is it a 2.7 or the 3.0
The 3.0 is a much better drive very unlikely to be a 2.7 unless a commercial but check MY05 SE D3 Manual my first LR what a car
MY10 HSE D4 auto
MY14 XXV more buttons than the spaceshuttle

Yes it's a 3 litre v8. What sort of money should I allow for the tow bar? And is there anything I should check it for? They are coming to me tomorrow morning..

I spent about 30 minutes trying to get the towing leckies off of Dark Bluie before I gave up. Just couldn't get the cables out and abandoned the job, didn't have the energy to take the bumper off. At half midnight (24hr daylight helped) I concluded I needed sleep more than towing leckies.

It's a pity you didn't manage to also salvage the fridge... and the heater vents... and maybe the gear surround ... and maybe the sub...... I think you did a great job to manage what you did
