Where are my fogs

Ok hopefully not the stupidest question asked on here. I shall explain.

Firstly my car is 2006 HSE Disco 3. When I move the light dial to the next setting from auto and pull out fully the light on the dash illuminates and my rear fogs go on. But if I pull it out to setting one nothing on the dash illuminates and the front fogs don't work.

After searching on here I firstly looked for a fuse issue. Now my fuse box is long and thin and a google search doesn't appear to find it. Looking from the back (nearest windows) there is a line of smaller relays (5) of which only the middle 3 are populated. On the left hand side of the box there are several larger relays and the right has the traditional fused. The back of the lid shows what appears to be a fog light in R5 (the top right smaller relays) of which there wasn't one in. Anyway I bought one but when I try pushing it in there is no resistance, and the relay wiggles loosely. And no look with the fogs. I also dismantled the fogs and saw a bare wear so retaped all both of them.

Anyway I notice from other wiring diagram that R12 (one of the bigger relays down the right hand side) is the fog one. No luck changing that either.

So I am at a loss I'm afraid. Anyway got any ideas please?

Have you checked the fusebox behind the passenger glovebox?

ISTR early D3s suffered from a trapped wire wearing through. It's a dim & distant memory from a galaxy far, far away. Thumbs Up

Amazing what happens when you get the right fuse. Thank you so much. I am very embarassed.

By the way I swapped by H8 fog lamps for some of those LED xenon ones. What a difference. Also did my main beam HID's. Amazing as well. Makes the bi xenons look cream coloured.

Once again ty for the advice over the fuse.

Yes this had that which was probably the reason behind the blown fuse. I've taped it all up well as per advice on here.

Ty for your advice.

Fine if you want to be a boy racer, but for use in actual fog you want a nice yellow / halogen light.

Xenon and LED lights will be absolutely hopeless in fog. You will problem have to turn them off to see where you are going!

You might be right there PeteK. To be honest the only reason I put them in the fogs is that I didn't want to waste them. Bought them for the direction lights and they won't fit so I can't be bothered sending them back. Will test them and swap them back if they look rubbish.

Cheers for the heads up on that one

p.s. I sold my Kuga to buy this Disco 3 and a Nissan 350Z. Not so much a boy racer as a mid life crisis seeing as I am the wrong side of 50 Laughing
