After my crank broke recently and considdering all options, I bought a JLR reconditioned engine, 6000 euro ex vat, got 10% discount on top at the dealer ( they have only 15% margin).
What you get is this:
Tested, engine oil in, new coolers, glow plugs, JLR warranty etc.

Maybe I should have carried one of these in my spares kit recently.

Del
You got that right. Normally I buy a car and drive it...
So far I have spent more time on the forum reading up on the problems than driving it. At the moment it is a very expensive garden ornament.
My 19 mpg towing didn't last long........down to 17 mpg now. I am hoping that is the TC.
I wanted a good tow vehicle for work.................looks like I brought a hobby

Unfortunately they have a habit of getting under your skin, my D4 is my 16th LR since 1989. If I didn't have it I'd probably be looking at nice reliable 530d estates at the mo to replace Old Bluie.

I almost brought the Patrol but at the last moment found out that the Auto wouldn't tow what I needed.
I thought "LR can't be that bad, otherwise nobody would buy them"

You hadn't factored in our insanity quotient. As I like to say: They can be the best cars in the world, they can be the worst cars in the world. Usually oh the same day.
