150Amp Alternator

So, from my research the standard D3 alternator is 150Amp?

What do people recommend as an upgrade?

I have a G4 D3 with additional HID lights, extra battery and a Warn 9.5Ti winch.

I have to change the alternator and battery as mine are both goosed so I may as wel invest in upgrades...

Thoughts please.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find an upgraded alternator that'll play nicely with your stunning G4.
Plenty of battery options though, I think Del is clued up on best place to purchase a new cranking battery.

Already talking to them about the battery, looking to replace the alternator at the same time, or do we think the 150Amp is up to the job......?

Andy, everyone seems to have the 017 battery but I went for the 019 about a year ago and have had no problems over it.

Looking at the battery for my D4, the replacement is an 019. If you get one of the later stop/start AGM batteries, they will withstand a deeper discharge as they're designed to be used with the engine off a lot.

If your G4 came from Land Rover with a 150Amp alternator, I'm not sure if there are any larger ones specified that will fit. If it worked for the G4 challenge, then you shouldn't have any issue, especially if the replacement is a good quality one.

AGM batteries are not recommended for D3's, best suggestion for you if you haven't already got it is a dual battery set up.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks for the advice, I am already running a dual battery set up, 2nd battery runs the additional ancillaries (HID lights, CB, Winch etc) the second battery is smaller so will be replacing that and probably add a smart split charge system as well so I can monitor voltage levels in the cabin.

So, new 017 battery ordered from Tayna and a replacement 150A alternator ordered from LR Spares.......also going to acquire a different 2nd battery for the auxiliary battery compartment......

Hoping this cures my startup problems like no special programs, EPA fault etc.......
